Landon's POV
I tried to talk to her during lunch, but she was not happy to see me. The Elders said that I would know what to do. They promised that because of the connection I would know exactly how to reach her. What a load of crap.
The only emotion that I could feel radiating off of her was anger. Not a good sign. Allison did not want to talk to me, but I needed her to. If she didn’t listen things could get very bad very quick. I started to brainstorm different ways that I could get Alli to speak to me, but only one idea came to mind- I would speak to her peers. I’d seen her with Mrs. Taylors daughter. Hopefully she could shed some light on the subject.
The next morning I got to school early and spotted the blonde sitting against a wall and doodling.
“Hello” I said as I walked up to her.
Her cheeks turned red when she looked up at me “Hey. I’m Lauren”
“I’m Landon”
“Are you new?” She obviously knew the answer. It was a small school. The kind where everyone knew everyone.
“Yeah” I replied.
“Cool beans. How are you liking it here?” Cool beans? Seriously?
“It’s great” Now how to bring Allison up?
“Met any cool people yet?” Perfect.
“Kind of. Do you know a girl named Allison?”
“Oh my gosh yes! Alli is the best friend in the entire world!” She squealed.
“I don’t think she likes me. I want to change that. Any ideas?”
Lauren started speaking faster “Well she likes art, and photography, but she doesn’t tell many people that. I probably shouldn’t have told you. Oh crap. Never mind” She seemed to go deep into thought “OH! You could join cross country! Alli loves running!”
“I did cross country at my old school” I lied “I was already considering trying out”
“That’s perfect! I am totally going to set you two up” Lauren giggled. Wait. What?! Where did that even come from?! I was totally embarrassed. Of course Allison chose that exact moment to approach.
