Allison's POV
At first I was really upset to have Landon as my science partner, but he didn’t make it as awkward as I thought he would. He simply read the instructions for the lab and assisted me in carrying them out. He was pretty good at chemistry; better than I was at least.
The lab was going well. We were ahead of almost everyone in the class, and were just about to add the last ingredient when something happened. I felt a light buzzing spread through my body. I reached for the small vile of vinegar just as Landon started to reach for it. I was faster. Landon’s eyes bugged out of his head and he started to spit out a warning. My hand crackled when I picked up the vile, there was a small flash of light, and the glass shattered.
Mrs. Hill’s head snapped up from er desk where she was grading papers.
“Allison are you-“Landon’s question died out when he saw the blood running down my arm. “Mrs. Hill can I take her to the nurse?” He asked, trying to conceal the concern that edged into his voice.
Mrs. Hill nodded. “Yes. I will take care of this mess.” She turned her attention to the rest of the class and said “Everyone step away from Allison’s lab station. I am going to run back to the classroom and grab a broom.”
Landon grabbed a paper towel from one of the dispensers and pressed it to my arm then began leading me to the nurse’s office.
