7. Forget

8:30 a.m.

Her phone's alarm went off, signaling she needed to wake up already

The weekend finally came, today was the day they went against Inha University, a team that also made it to the finals

They've already played against Seoul National University at the semis before they qualified for the finals

This game was a "winner takes all game", whoever won will be the champions

Their game was still at 3 in the afternoon but it was both Nari and Sunhee's routine to wake up early on a game day

Their coach also set up a requirement that the team should be at the venue 2 hours before a game

After waking up they both had a breakfast bagel they bought from the convenience store outside the school, only wanting a light meal because they didn't want to feel heavy later on, especially today

After fixing what they needed for the game, they then took turns taking a bath and changed into the matching warmers each varsity member of KNSU was provided

Finishing doing what they had to do they then quickly went out of their dorms and made their way to the gym

When they arrived it was exactly 11, they met the rest of their team outside the gym

Their head coach Lee Juwon and their assistant coach Park Mirae were also there

"Kim Nari and Choi Sunhee, for the first time you guys actually aren't late"

Both of the said players were both smiling at their coaches

Coach Juwon both gave them a knowing look

Nari and Sunhee were both known to be always in time for training but they would always run a bit late in attendance checking on game days, so this was new

"Get in already both of you" coach Mirae said, then the two coaches headed in the bus, followed by the both of them

When they were both finding vacant seats to sit in, Nari didn't expect to see Taehyung at the very back

He was waving at her to come sit with him

Sunhee went to sit with Minji, their other teammate while Nari made her way to Taehyung

Taehyung was also the nephew of coach Juwon, coach was his mother's brother

It wasn't the first time Taehyung watched their game, it wasn't also the first time he would catch a ride to the venue with them

Coach knew Taehyung so he wasn't worried that he would date one of his players, Taehyung also knew the consequences he'd have to face if he did

After settling down, Taehyung then bombarded her with questions

"Excited?"

"Nervous?"

"Ready to kick their ass?"

"Ready to beat the shit out of them?"

"Ready to become cham-"

While closing her eyes, Nari covered her ears to muffle his voice

"Taehyung please do not make my ears explode before the game, please"

She opened her eyes to look at him, he was smiling sheepishly while rubbing the back of his neck

"Sorry"

He whisper-shouted

"So, you ready?"

He asked

Am I ready? she thought

"Ready as I'll ever be"

She said while looking out the window

For the past few days Nari hasn't really been able to focus on the original goal, to win

Well not after that night at Jungkook's house

Never did she ever think that the one thing that could ever make her forget her determination about a game was him

After that night, she hasn't even been able to talk to him, it was like he was avoiding her for some reason

Speaking of the devil, when the bus was passing by the football field, he was there

In all his glory, he was wearing his football shorts and a windbreaker with his white long socks and football shoes on his feet

He was passed the ball by his teammate, he ran and ran as fast as his feet could get him, nearing the goal, he slowed down then swung his right leg backwards

Getting strength from the momentum, he then kicked with all his might, sending the ball straight pass the goal keeper and straight through the net

Stopping on his tracks, sensing someone looking at him, he then faced towards her direction

He caught the sight of the moving vehicle and looked straight at the window

Nari's window

There he saw her and there she saw him

They both looked at eachother, Nari was surprised and shaken a bit by the eye contact but she held it, not wanting to lose to him, she kept looking

They kept their gazes at eachother until the bus was finally out of Jungkook's sight, continuing it's way to the game venue

. . .

Nari was unable to focus the whole ride and was unable to calm the butterflies in her stomach

She didn't know what she was so nervous about

Was it because she was already so close to claiming her life long goal, to win and show everyone that doubted her from the very beginning that she could do it

Or was it because of the fact that she had no clue to why her heart was beating so fast when Jungkook looked at her
