12. Know

9:26 p.m.

Was the time when Nari woke up hearing her phone ringing

Sitting up straight from laying down on the couch, she picked up her phone from the center table

Looking at who was calling, Taehyung's name was shown on the screen

Rubbing the sleepiness out of her eyes, she accepted the call and placed her phone against her ear

"Hello?"

Her voice coming out raspy, then letting out a yawn before Taehyung spoke

"Jjajangmyeon?"

He said

Nari momentarily closed her eyes, massaging her temple, regretting why she answered the phone in the first place

"Seriously? Now?"

"You got a lot of explaining to do"

Knowing that he was right, and knowing that he wasn't going to back down, she let out a sigh of defeat

"Fine, the usual at 10"

"Copy that"

Then she hung up

Still feeling sleepy, Nari looked around to see Sunhee still fast asleep beside her with the TV still on from their binge watching of k-dramas

She remembered heading out of her room to join Sunhee on the couch in the early afternoon of the day, but she didn't realize how time had passed so fast then they both ended up sleeping

Slipping on her slides, after turning the TV off, she made her way to her room

Changing into a black pair of track pants and a white track jacket with a shirt under

Making sure not to wake Sunhee up, she quietly made her way out the door and headed to the nearby jjajangmyeon restaurant

"... then I slept. That's it."

Nari said, finally being able to face her attention at the untouched black-bean noodles that have been there for the past twenty minutes

Taehyung's eagerness didn't even let her grab her chopsticks, his constant asking were interrupting every chance she had to hold them

Looking back at him, he had a serious look plastered on his face

All traces of him that used to joke around and being playful were nothing compared to this look he gave her, this was a completely new side of him

This was the same look he gave her when she first told him about her parents

She never could tell if he was mad, sad or surprised

But one thing was for sure is that he was worried

His arms were crossed across his chest, his eyes piercing through her

Nari could see in his eyes, there was hesitation

He was hesitating wether he should keep what he was about to say to himself or to tell her, Nari, knowing he was going to end up keeping it to himself, decided to speak up

"You can tell me you know"

She slurped her noodles, wiping off the sauce on the sides of her mouth

"So..."

She looked up again when he started

"What now?"

Nari's brows furrowed

"What do you mean?"

Taehyung let out a sigh, grabbing his own chopsticks and mixing his noodles, before continuing

"Do you like him?"

Catching her by surprise, Nari choked on the food that was in her mouth

Frantically grabbing her glass of water on the side and taking a huge swig out of it

She looked at Taehyung as if he had just confessed his love her her

"Are you out of your goddamn mind?"

She said

Taehyung unbothered about what she just said, knowing she was going to react this way, continued to eat his food

Looking back at her he raised and eyebrow

"Do you?"

Nari seeing he was all serious, looked around, hoping no one was listening to their conversation

"Tae, we both know the rules, and we both know what's going to happen if we break them"

She started

"And knowing that what could happen is very bad, and we both will definitely regret, we will never do that"

She thought if she should continue any further, but having faith on Taehyung that he would understand, she ended up telling him

"You know how much I went through just to be able be where I am today..."

"You and Him, out of all people, know that"

Taehyung's serious expression softened when he realized who she was talking about

Letting out a sigh, he took out some cash from his wallet and left it on the table, standing up from his chair he made his way to her side

"Patbingsu?"

"I think there's still some things you need to tell me"

His smile could be heard from his voice

Looking up, Nari couldn't help but mirror his boxy smile

"Patbingsu"

Both of them let out a chuckle

Nari stood up from her chair, then they both headed out of the restaurant and made their way out
