Best friends are a luxury, not everyone is fortunate enough to have one and some people are fortunate enough to have many.
Me on the other hand had only one and only needed one. Some people were also fortunate enough to fall in love with their bestfriend and have them return feelings while some of us were unfortunate in that area, aka me.
I wasn't sure if he felt the same or not but I was sure about one thing. I have feelings for Zhong Chenle.
In the few months I have known him we became inseparable, and I developed a crush that just wouldn't go away.
We met at a dance lesson and then we kept seeing eachother at the same dance lesson for the next 6 months. The first day we met I was drawn to his happy optimistic personality that could brighten up literally anybody's mood.
"Hey Cheiz I ordered us some food so...you have to stay with me now." He stated, I laughed as I tied my laces that had come undone.
"Sounds good." I agreed. "Well we should probably practice some more until our food gets here."
"Orrrrr we could just take a break until after we're done eating." He suggested, I really didn't want to do any dancing at the moment either.
"Yeah I like your idea better." I nodded, he laughed his famous dolphins laugh before sitting down next to me.
"I'm tired." He sighed, I nodded in agreement.
"I think we should just be born as birds in our next life." I stated, he laughed out loud falling back because of how hard he was laughing.
"That was so random! Out of all things why birds?!" He exclaimed wiping his eyes.
"Because they can fly." I shrugged.
"But you're afraid of heights." He pointed out. I nodded.
"Right never mind we should be...whales-
"You hate the water."
"Dammit Chenle." I nudged him making him laugh again. "have you ever wondered what the person you're going to marry is doing at the moment?"
"Hmm sometimes I do wonder what they're doing, hopefully having fun and living their life." He stated. "What about you?"
"I don't know but I hope the person I marry can make me laugh till my stomach hurts."
"Well then I guess you'll just have to marry me since not many people can make you laugh." He boasted making me blush. "Would you marry me? If we don't find out soulmates?"
"Like a backup?" I nudged him.
"No no-I Uh nevermind that's a weird question." He stuttered, he was so cute. The way he got flustered and all shy suddenly made him even more irresistible.
So I kissed him, and before I realized what I had done it was too late. I pulled away with wide eyes seeing Chenle who was looking at me in shock. "I-I'm sorry I should go." I stood up gathered my stuff and scurried off ignoring his calls for me to come back.
Good going cheiz! Now you probably lost a best friend because of your stupid impulse! But he was so irresistib-NO! You ruined a friendship. How are you going to face him now?!
You can't ever go back to that dance studio. Good job Cheiz.
••• The next Day
This whole morning has been full of calls from Chenle that I didn't bother to answer along with texts that I didn't reply to. I mean I already knew what he was going to say.
'Sorry cheiz, I don't feel that way about you maybe it's best if we stop being friends as well.'
I didn't want to hear it so I figured avoiding his calls and messages was the best way to do that. I was beyond embarrassed as is I didn't need him to flat out reject me and add to the embarrassment.
I didn't even go to dance class today because of the embarrassment of having to face him.
I sighed as I sat on my couch watching my kdramas.
"I'm never going to get love like thag, why am I even watching this? It'll just make me feel worse about my horrible nonexistent love life." I grumbled to myself yet continued watching tv.
"Sweetie I'm going to the market to get some stuff for dinner. I'll bring you some snacks." My mom kissed my head before walking out of the house.
I had told my mom everything about that had happened between Chenle and I and she let me stay home, only for today.
I let out a sigh as my phone rang again. 'Dolphinboii' read the caller ID. I watched it ring before it stopped.
37 missed calls. 58 messages
Stop being a coward cheiz. You were brave enough to kiss him so be brave enough to face him.
Tomorrow id be brave tomorrow. Today I was going to spend the rest of the day as a coward where it's safe.
The doorbell rang and I trudged to the door opening it revealing Chenle standing there with a box of pizza.
"Oh no you don't." He held the door open walking in before I could close it in his face. "Why are you avoiding me?"
"Because." I muttered.
"So you just kiss people and then ghost them?" He asked, I couldn't tell if he was angry or not.
"I'm Sorry." I apologized, he rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Why? I didn't say you had to apologize."
"What?" I looked up at him. "But I...kissed you."
"Yeah and?" He sassed. "I thought you did it because you like me but clearly you ignoring me I misread the situation."
"I-I do like you." I admitted.
"I know." He shrugged, I looked at him in shock. This is such a mess.
"What do you mean you just-
"I know. I didn't know you liked me back until you kissed me. Then Jeno and Jaemin kinda lectured me about how I was stupid for not knowing sooner." He shrugged sheepishly.
"Wait...liked you back? Does that mean?" I trailed off he nodded.
"I like you. I have since the first day we met and you fell on my back." He said making us both laugh. "I even brought pizza but it's kinda cheesy-Uh no pun intended."
He opened the box revealing a heart shaped meat lovers pizza. "That's so sweet."
"You only get pizza if you agree to go out with me. As my girlfriend."
"Of course." I chuckled.
"...are you saying that because you want pizza or-
"Chenle!"
"Okay okay." He laughed. "Now that you're my girlfriend you should stop avoiding me." He hugged me making me smile.
