Chapter 6~ Too Far

     The new gem opened their eyes to the starry night sky. They felt... strange. They sat up, looking up and down their body. They looked down at their chest and saw a gem. Spinel's gem. The gem then looked at their belly. Steven's gem. Steven and Spinel had accidentally fused.

     "S-STEVEN! What's going on?!" They panicked. "Woah, it's OK. We just fused!" The fusion shakily stood up but could not keep balance. They fell over, splitting the two. "Ow.." Steven groaned. Spinel shot up. "What the heck was that?!" Spinel questioned, both scared and amazed. "Wait, you've never heard of fusion before?" Steven asked, shocked. "I mean I've heard of it, but I've never seen it." Spinel responded. "Is that what it feels like?" Steven nodded. "That's pretty weird. It's like you just disappear... but you are still conscious?" she thought out loud. "I guess i'm just confused that the Diamonds never exposed it to me." Steven rolled his eyes. "Yeah, it's not really their thing." Steven said. Silence filled the air, leaving the gem and hybrid just sitting alone in the garden. Finally, Steven spoke. "C'mon. Let's get out of here." he said, standing up and reaching out for Spinel's hand. She felt her gem illuminate for a moment before disappearing again. The fusion opened their eyes once again, but this time they felt like they had more control... too much control. They walked over to the warp pad, activating it.

     "Oh where could they be?" Yellow asked herself worriedly. "Steven should be back with Spinel by now!" Just then, the fusion warped in. All the Diamonds whipped their heads around. "Spinel! Where have you been Starlight??" White asked. As the fusion walked closer, White realized it wasn't Spinel or Steven. "What? Who are you?" she questioned suspiciously. The fusion looked up at White. "The name's Rhodolite... Pink Rhodolite." They answered. White looked at the gem... two gems. She gasped. "Spinel! Unfuse with Steven this instant!" White demanded. Rhodolite rolled their eyes and crossed their arms. "No." they refused. White flinched with shock and offence. She assumed Spinel was just trying to act tough and rebellious "I beg you're pardon?" she furiously asked. "Ya heard me." Rhodolite retorted. Blue stepped forward. "Please Spinel! You know we have forbidden you from fusion!" Blue scolded with a hint of sorrow in her voice. "Spinel isn't here right now! Spinel does not want to unfuse!" Rhodolite sassed. It was Yellow's turn now. "OK, now you're just being difficult!" Yellow fumed. "I guess I'll have to make you two unfuse." Yellow was getting her destabilizing charge ready. "NO! I'M SORRY! WE'LL UNFUSE! PLEASE DON'T POOF ME! I'LL BE GOOD!" Rhodolite cried out, only this time this was not Steven talking. It was Spinel. 

     Suddenly something in them snapped, or something in Steven snapped. He felt like he had full control over the fusion. Yellow launched her charge. Rhodolite blocked it with Steven's diamond shield. The blow bounced of the shield as was directed back towards Yellow. Yellow's face turned from fury to horror as she narrowly dodged the bullet, bumping into White. "Spinel, please stop! You're hurting everyone around you!" Blue tearfully exclaimed, causing everybody in the room to feel her sorrow. Everybody except Rhodolite. Blue glanced closely at them. "W-Why aren't you affected?" she asked. They paused. "Because I have felt actual pain. Get with the program." Rhodolite responded. "You just want people to feel sorry for you! You're not the one who had their gem forcibly ripped out of their body and almost died," They shot a dirty look at White. "now are you?" White froze in place. Blue and Yellow both glared at her with a confused gaze. "White? What is Spinel talking about?" Yellow questioned. "I already told you, Spinel isn't here right now." Rhodolite repeated. 

     Steven?! What are you doing?! We need to stop! They think I'm saying these things! Spinel panicked in Rhodolite's mind. Let's call it a day and apologize before things get any worse!  Steven completely ignored these thoughts. No, they deserve to feel the pain I had felt. Why aren't you letting me do this? They need to be taught a lesson. "Ragh! That's it! I've had it with you two!" White exclaimed angrily, her giant heels shaking the room. "Oh so you wanna fight 'Princess?' OK, let's fight!" Rhodolite taunted, turning a bright shade of pink and getting out their weapon, which was a 'giant pizza cutter like thing.'" White reached out to grab the fusion when Rhodolite attempted to slash her hand with the pizza cutter. "Aww, so cute." they teased. White attempted to swoop down and grasp them again, but missed as Rhodolite leaped out of the way. "You really need to work on your aim." they advised jokingly. This game of cat and mouse continued until White and the other Diamonds eventually gave up. "Fine. I really did not want to do this, but you've left us with no other choice." White said darkly as her eyes began to glow very brightly. "White! NO!" Yellow and Blue shouted out. This distracted White and she turned her head around. Right on impulse, Rhodolite sprung up into the air and attacked White at the back of her neck with the pizza cutter. All the Diamonds shrieked with horror as they caught a glimpse of Rhodolite committing this crime. "Night night!" Rhodolite whispered in White's ear before she dissipated her form right in front of the Diamonds. White's gem fell to the ground with a big crash. Yellow and Blue stared at Rhodolite in anger and terror. Steven felt satisfied. He had gotten what he had asked for. Revenge. Spinel was left traumatized of what Steven had just done, and the Diamonds were going to punish her for it! Yellow stepped forward with no hesitation, destabilizing them on the spot. "NO WAIT PLEASE!!" Rhodolite pleaded before breaking apart, revealing a glowing pink Steven and a poofed Spinel. Yellow bent over and picked up Spinel's gemstone. "I'll take care of her when she reforms." Yellow explained to Blue grimly. "Everything we did for her, and this is how she repays us? Unbelievable!" Steven weakly stood up, still ready for another fight. 

     "That was not her. Like I said... Spinel was not there." Steven quietly said, his eyes turning black and his pupils reverting to diamonds.
