Virgil slowly pushed himself up wincing slightly as the burn in his leg over the movement. He laughed at himself as he sat back on the couch to give his leg a break. Now that he looked... He had no clue where he was. Roman sleeping on the floor on top of this large off white rug. The couch was more a small love seat than anything. Virgil frowned as he glanced about. They were in this really old looking office. Old as in nobody ever used it anymore it seemed. Virgil took a deep breath as he stood himself up and walked over to sit in the desk chair. His fingers brushed against a lonely leather journal and he frowned.
"Why did you chose to live in a castle, Ro?" Virgil's voice flitted through the air as his eyes met with a crown in a glass box. A crown of gold, red, and green. He gently took the box off and brushed his fingers over it getting lost in thought. "There's so much here. So much that could be taken and stolen... I would have thought it all would have been damaged or pillaged by now but..." Virgil picked the crown up with awe-filled eyes. "You've taken such good care of everything. Why?"
"Have you ever wondered what it was like?" Virgil moved over to the mirror and smiled softly as he stared at his reflection in thought. "Being royal, I mean." Virgil held the crown up till it was in line with his eyes and frowned. "I guess all little boys imagine themselves as a prince."
"It's not all fun." Virgil jumped seeing Roman in the refection. "Sorry... I didn't mean to scare you."
"I didn't know you were awake." Virgil tensed with worry as he clutched the crown to his chest refusing to turn around. "And you're back... t-to being human again so..."
"Yeah. I'm sorry about that." Virgil just shook his head as he watched Roman move closer to him from the mirror. "If I get too emotional my curse takes over and... Well, my powers sort of get out of hand. I end up shifting without any control. I'm sorry. I never really wanted you to see that." Virgil spun around and shoved the crown into Roman's chest with a sad smile. Roman's eyes went wide as he gently took it from Virgil's hands, his eyes darting to the desk before back to Virgil's eyes.
"I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't have touched it. I just..." Roman just stared at the crown in thought before looking back up with a soft smile. "I don't know what I was thinking. I'm sorry. I..." Virgil froze up as Roman carefully placed it on the smaller's hair. The messy medium length light brown hair swirled lightly under the golden crown and Roman's smile widened. "Roman?" Roman's eyes darted to Virgil's as he subconsciously moved closer. Roman's hand went to the back of Virgil's neck as Roman's eyes trailed to his lips and back. "Why?"
"I just... wanted to see it on you." Roman subconsciously leaned in as Virgil's eyes slipped shut. "You asked... what it felt like to be royal... to be a prince." Virgil hummed unable to voice his thoughts as Roman's breath tickled his cheek. Roman's heart pounded in his chest as wrapped his free and around Virgil's waist. "So tell me... How does it feel to be my prince?" Virgil's eyes shot open as Roman's lips brushed his softly. "How does it feel... knowing you have my heart?" Roman's lips trailed the smaller's cheek, as he whispered so softly Virgil hardly heard it. "Being Royal isn't everything people think it is... but I can promise you... being my prince... being mine... will mean everything... every..." Roman's voice trailed off as his leaned his head against Virgil's shoulder. "I'm sorry. I told you didn't have to feel anything for me and here I am pushing for that very thing."
"Roman?" Roman hummed as closed his eyes letting Virgil just old him. "Did you really mean it?"
"Mean what?"
"That I'm you're... That I..."
"Virgil, I love you." Roman pulled away just enough to gaze into those hazel blues and his heart melted. "You aren't just... 'my' prince Virgil. I assure you. My love is as real as the gems in that crown." Virgil's eyes went wide as he jumped to take it off only to freeze at the growl Roman let out. "Don't... Please don't... It looks great on you."
"It's a royal crown, Roman. I can't..." Virgil shook slightly as Roman tangled his fingers through his slowly moving his hand away from the crown with this sparkle in his eyes. "I can't wear it. It doesn't belong to me. It's far too precious to be on my head. I'm not even..."
"I want you to wear it, Virgil. It fits you." Virgil frowned as Roman kissed his knuckles lightly. "My prince... My love... Please wear it? For me? Even if it's just for today?"
"Who's is it?" Roman's eyes flashed as he glanced over at the large painting on the wall. Virgil slowly turned to look and his eyes went wide. The painting was a portrait of this family. An older man with bright blue eyes and light red hair, a woman with long curly blonde hair and green eyes, and two adorable young boys with their father's hair and mother's eyes... twins. Virgil's eyes narrowed as he walked over, brushing his fingers over the one with a crown that had a large red stone. The same crown he had in his hand... "Who's..."
"Obviously, one of the princes, Virgil." Roman's voice shook as Virgil held the crown up with a soft smile. In the painting, the crown was far too large for the young prince. Both princes had one that looked about ready to fall off them. Virgil paused as Roman's hands snaked up from behind him carefully taking the crown back before once again placing it on Virgil's head. "I like it there. It's far more glorious when worn by someone as beautiful as you, than it was in a glass box."
"Hey, Roman?" Roman frowned as Virgil slowly turned around to face him with tears in his eyes. The younger smiled brightly as the tears trailed down his cheeks. Roman gently rubbed the tears away with his thumb as Virgil reached up to hold his hand and lean into his touch. Roman simply watched with confusion as Virgil let out a soft breath. "Ro... If you want to... you can... y-you can..."
"Virgil?" Roman's heart skipped a beat the moment Virgil's eyes met is and everything crashed around them.
"You can kiss me now." Roman's eyes shot wide as Virgil smiled softly. "I-If y-you want to... You can kiss me." Roman really didn't react. He just stood there frozen, his heart bursting as tears fell from his eyes.
"You... You mean it?" Virgil just chuckled as he nodded. "But... I didn't... you never... I can..."
"Do you want to or not?" Roman literally pulled Virgil's face to his as he kissed him hard. Tears fell steadily from his eyes as he breathed in his love's scent. Virgil let out a breathy sound as Roman pulled him in till there wasn't even a speck of air between them. A rumble vibrated through Roman's chest as his wolf started to come out more. He held on to Virgil tightly just melting as Virgil kissed back. The only reason Roman pulled away was to breathe. The two stood there panting as Roman rested his head against Virgil's forehead. "I take it you did."
"Virgil, I've been dying to do that." Virgil chuckled softly as Roman wrapped his arms around him, leaning into his neck for a desperate embrace. "I just never thought you would let me."
"Why wouldn't I?" Roman shook slightly as Virgil held him tighter. "You've shown me what it's like to be happy again, Roman. You saved my life... and I don't mean from the wolves."
"I love you, Virgil." Virgil sighed fondly as he hummed. "I love you so much."
"I know, Roman. I know... And if I'm being honest..." Roman's eyes peeked open to see Virgil's heartfelt and soft expression. He could literally feel his heart melt at the sight. "I think... I think I'm falling for you too."
