"MOM! Emmy is putting too much frosting on the cup cakes!" Matthew screams from the other room.
"Mom's not home! And stop screaming! I'm studying for my finals!" I screamed from the living room.
I'm not kidding, my house is total chaos. I live with five other people and even though my dad is always in his office working, my step-brothers Matthew and Bobby make up for the lost person. The boys aren't my biological family, but I still have to take care of them. It isn't that I don't like them, and I don't mind taking care of them, but it is their mother that I can't stand.
She acts as if she's somehow a goddess in this house. Like a god-send that everyone has to bow down to. To be honest, I don't see what my father sees in her.
"AH! Matthew! You scraping the frosting off of the cup cakes with your dirty fingers doesn't help at all! Bobby! Don't fling the flour in the air! The bag is-" I hear Emmy shout from the kitchen until she was cut off.
I hear silence in the kitchen and run toward it, knowing that silence in the Chase household means something's gone wrong.
When I get to the kitchen, I find my adoptive sister, Emmy in the kitchen with Bobby and Matthew covered in flour. "What happened?!" I yell while holding the bridge of my nose. I sit down to study for one minute and the kitchen is already a disaster. This is why I can't keep the two boys in the same room. At least without my supervision. I look up to see Emmy grabbing cleaning supplies to try and help get the mess up. She means best at least, but she's too nice. She has to be stern with them.
"Boys, I want you to go take a shower and clean your clothes in the laundry room. Don't make a mess and come downstairs quickly so you can help us clean." I tell the boys and as the boys giggle and run upstairs I know for a fact that they will take their time so they could do less work.
"I'm so sorry, Annabeth! I didn't mean to make a mess of things! I just turned away from Bobby for a second and-" Emmy started, panicked. She's been trying to fit in with the family but every time she tries to take a step forward, she takes two steps back.
She once tried to take the boys to an amusement park, and the boys came back crying because they had to early. Of course, my mother blamed it on her because Matthew and Bobby could never do anything wrong in there lives in her eyes.
"It's fine Emmy. Let's just clean this up."
"I- Okay." She said, and when we finished cleaning up all the flour, she went up to me and told me, "Thank you for helping. I've been trying so hard to be apart of the family, but I feel like I haven't gotten anywhere." Tears start to brim her eyes, and I hug her, telling her,
"It is okay. Trying to fit into a crowd is hard to do. But keep trying and someday you'll be the best big sister the boys have ever had. Your already the best sister I could've asked for. Just maybe be a bit tougher on the boys," I say with a laugh.
"I will" Emmy says and tells me, "Of all the homes I could be in this is only one I would choose because you have been the best sibling I could've asked for." Oh wow, now I'm tearing up. We break the hug and go to the living room to find the boy's footprints along the floor outlined with flour.
"I guess we have more cleaning to do" I said, wiping my tears.
My studying will have to wait.
Yeah, filler. Yeah, I don't care. Emmy is based off of my best friend, @Et33667 ! I didn't know how to incorporate her in the story other then make her Annabeth's sister, and she fits the role perfectly! (Other then the fact that Emmy is really tough and the Emmy in the story isn't. She is really sweet though!) Oh, and Emmy will be Incorporated in the story and it will be important for Annabeth as she makes the decision of her life
