"i don't like this color! i look fat." ashley said as she looked at herself in the mirror.
"you've said that with every dress you've tried on!" jennifer said. "this one looks good on you. trust me!"
"i like the pink one better." ashley smiled as she went back into the fitting room. "have you picked a dress out?"
"nope, i wasn't thinking of going." jennifer said as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"jenny! you have to go!" ashely said. "the whole gang is going!"
"i know but i just have so much crap to do that it's hard." jennifer said.
"bullshit jenny." ashley said as she tried on another dress. "you're going! go find a dress."
"ash!" jennifer giggled. "i don't know where to start."
"go look around." ashley said. "i promise you'll find something cute!"
"okay fine, mom." jennifer laughed.
as jennifer wandered the store in search of a dress for the valley party. she sighed and looked at a few dresses. she looked for an outfit that was cute but not too revealing.
"that would look good on you, by the way."
jennifer was startled and turned around to find will with a big smile on his face.
"stop scaring me like that!" jennifer said as she playfully smacked will on his arm. "your sister might take long. she's indecisive about a dress."
"she could take a whole day just trying on dresses." will laughed.
"yeah, well she forced me to look for a dress." jennifer laughed. "i wasn't planning to go to the party."
"everyone's going! you should go." will said as he walked around with jennifer.
"okay fine." jennifer smiled. "help me look for a dress then."
"i'm horrible at this jen." will laughed.
"c'mon! help a friend out." jennifer laughed as she scanned the store for a decent dress.
"how about this one?" will said as he held the dress up.
jennifer looked at the red dress with a slit in the bottom. "too open." she said as she kept looking.
"okay what about this one?" will said as he tossed another dress to jennifer.
she analyzed it and threw it back at will, laughing. "too slutty." jennifer laughed.
"i know, this one." will said as he gave handed the dress to jennifer.
she looked at it and tossed it back to will laughing. "all the dresses you've given me are too open or too tight. is that all guys think about?" jennifer laughed.
"shut up jenny! i told you i was horrible at this." will said as he put the dresses back.
"i found it!" jennifer said as she held up a light blue dress. "i like the color. i think i'll take it."
"is ash ready?" will said.
"don't think so." jennifer laughed. "let me go pay my dress while she's deciding."
"i got it." will smiled.
"no, it's fine will." jennifer smiled. "i got it, don't worry."
"nope, it's on me." will smiled as he dragged jennifer to the cash register.
"oh am i gonna owe you." jennifer laughed.
jennifer and will walked up to the cash register and will paid for jennifer's dress. she turned back to see if ashley was ready but there was no sign of her being ready.
"so are you two together?" the cashier asked will and jennifer as she folded the dress and placed it neatly in a bag.
"oh no." they said in unison.
"he's one of my best friends." jennifer giggled.
"well that's sweet." the cashier smiled. "you two would make a really cute couple though."
"thank you." jennifer smiled. "he has a girlfriend though, so no can do."
jennifer and will looked at each other and laughed. it wasn't the first time they were told or asked if they were a couple. even though will was charming, jennifer had always seen him as a friend ever since they met back in the second grade.
"is ash ready?" will laughed. "go find her."
jennifer laughed and went to go find ashley. ashley was putting some dresses back and made her way to the cash register.
"you literally take forever, ash." jennifer laughed as she accompanied ashley to pay for her dress.
"i needed to fina the perfect dress." ashley giggled. "looks like you found one."
"yeah. your brother actually bought it for me." jennifer said.
"will bought you the dress?" ash smirked. "ooh, sounds like someone likes you."
"shut up ash!" jennifer said. "it was just a favor, that's all."
"honey, let me enlighten you." ashley laughed. "a guy just doesn't buy a girl a dress as a favor. if a guy buys a girl a dress, that's because while he was looking at the dress, he imagined how it would look on you, and if he liked what he imagined, he's sure as hell gonna buy the dress for her."
"it was a favor! simply just a favor." jennifer smiled. "he's my best friend, i've known him since second grade. it was a favor."
"keep telling yourself that." ashley laughed. "now that you have a dress, you have to go to the valley party."
"i'm still not sure." jennifer sighed.
"c'mon! you have to go!" ashley pouted. "please go. for me, for our friends, for will."
"fine." jennifer smiled. "i'll make an appearance. i better not regret this."
"oh trust me, you won't." ashley smiled
