Farzana sat in her room, her tasbeeh in her hand as she quietly read durood-sharif under her breath while her other hand unconsciously rubbed at her protruding belly. She smiled when she felt the strong kicks her two children delivered one after the other yet even though she smiled she could not help but wonder what was happening in the court right now.

The court where the father of her children,Ashraf was about to hear that his claims of her having an affair and the children in her belly not being his were all wrong. She wondered what would happen when he found out that the children she carried were his.Would he decide to take her back as he had only given her two talaq’s but then the question for her would be would she be able to forgive him for his accusations, his bitter words and the affair behind her back that had turned into a second marriage?

Farzana shook her head,no she would not be able to forgive him for any of that.Once was a mistake, twice was outright stupidity and she refused to commit to that stupidity. He would have a place in her children’s life and she would be respectful towards him for her children but she would not accept him back into her life.

Her family which consisted of her brother Faizal and her sister-in-law Razia. Her parents had passed away a year after she got married and three years ago from the present. Her father had passed away from a heart attack only for her mother to pass away in her sleep a month later. That time period had been devastating to Farzana but she had stayed strong for her older brother and Ashraf had at time been her pillar of strenght. They all supported her idea of not going back to Ashraf, shukar alhumdulilah.Even though they supported her decision and had decided that she would stay with them she had her own money, her own little stash that she had collected throughout her marriage as had been an advice given to her by her mother. She could afford a small flat and work as a teacher, she refused to burden her family.

There came a knock on the door causing Farzana to snap out of her thoughts and look at the door,“Come in.”

The door opened too reveal Faizal and Razia, their face serious which caused Farzana’s face to scrunch up in worry,“Bhai, what happened at the court? What did Ashraf say?”

Faizal moved to sit down on the bed,his hand reaching out to grab her own hand in his as he gazed at his baby sister’s worried face,“The judge found you not guilty of cheating on Ashraf and the DNA results proved that the babies are his but that asshole,he,” Fazial gazed down, blinking back tears before looking at his sister who waited withheld breath for his next words,“He decided to sign away all his rights on the babies and he gave you his final talaq.”

Farzana let out the breath as she attempted to comprehend what Faizal had just said, she blinked her eyes a couple of times before shaking her head,“What do you mean he signed away all his rights on the babies?Islamically he can’t do that, right bhai?”

Faizal nodded his head,“You right,Islamically he can’t but according to South African laws he can.By signing away his rights on the babies he no longer has a right to meet them, contact them in anyway and he isn’t liable anymore to pay maintenance for the babies.”

Farzana let out a sound of disbelief as she felt a sharp pain at her back,“Even after the DNA tests proved positive?I don’t understand that man at all.Ahh.” She groaned as she put her hand to her back when she felt another pain causing Razia to put a hand on her shoulder.

“Zana,what’s wrong?”

Farzana shook her head, dismissing the pain,“Nothing.” She looked at Faizal’s concerned face,“At least I didn’t have to beg for my talaq.I’m free now and so are my children.I can raise them without a father, right?”

Faizal’s heart broke at his sister’s words and he hugged her,as he nodded his head,“I’ll be there for the throughout their whole lives.”

“I know,I trust you.Ahhgg.” Faizal pulled away, concerned as he felt Razia put a hand on his back as they looked at Farzana, who’s face twisted in what appeared as pain. She looked at them.
