Being The Sheikh's Queen

CHAPTER FIVE

Farzana sat at her table,marking papers because of which Ahmed had to sit at one of the front tables and eat food so he would not try to see the marks which Farzana doubted he would.He was a good child who she trusted and loves.

"Ma'am,my dad gave this for you." Farzana lifted her head when Ahmed spoke from where he stood a bit far from the table,holding out a note.Farzana took it with a smile.

"Jazakallah Ahmed.Are you done eating?"

Ahmed nodded his head,"Yes,I am done but you haven't eaten." A small pout making it's way on to his face and Farzana pushed the papers in front of her into a file.

"You are right.You can bring me your Tupperware and come sit here so I can eat." Ahmed's face lit up in a smile as he made his way to his table while Farzana opened up the envelope in which was a letter.She opened it and begun reading.

As salaam mu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu Miss.Farzana

I would like to begin this letter of by expressing my heartfelt gratitude for all the hard work you have put into making Ahmed eat,smile,laugh and do what he would before his mother's demise.You have brought great happiness to all of us in his family and we make dua that Allah continuously blesses your life with all good things.

I write this letter in regard to the fact that Ahmed has become very attached to you and he has told us of your plans to go back to your home country for the Ramdhan holidays.I would appreciate it if you had a small talk with Ahmed regarding your travels and what should he expect if you are not back in time.It will keep him prepared for circumstances that are not within your control.I hope that you will do as I have requested.

Farzana folded the letter into its original state and slipped it back into the envelope as Ahmed took a seat besides her table.She smiled at him as she took a bit of his sandwich and he smiled back as he put a paper on the table,picking up his pencil to draw.Farzana's heart ached as she thought of the fact that Ahmed's father was right,if she did not manage to return on time Ahmed would be left heartbroken and feel let down.He may not be her blood but he was one of her children who had captured her heart and she would not be able to see him back in the state he was when she first met him.

Once she was done,she closed the Tupperware lid and sat it aside before reaching out to touch Ahmed's hand causing him to look at her,"Yes ma'am?"

"Ahmed,please move your chair so it is in front of me.I would like to talk to you." Ahmed did as she asked and Farzana held his hands in her own as he looked up at her with big,round eyes,"Ahmed,you do know I am not from Rahilah?"

Ahmed nodded his head slowly,"Yes,ma'am.You told us the one day that you are from South Africa."

Farzana nodded her head,"Yes,so that means that my family is in South Africa and for the Ramadhan holidays I need to go back home."

Ahmed's face dropped,a tsunami of sadness took over his eyes as tears filled and his bottom lip trembled,"Forever?"

Farzana shook her head as she lifted his off the chair and on to her lap,putting her arms around his body as his hands went around her neck and he buried his face in her neck,"No sweetheart.Only for the Ramadhan holdiays and Eid,then I will be back her before school starts."

Ahmed moved his head back,rubbing his hand across his nose as he sniffled,looking into her eyes,"Promise?"

"I promise,sweetheart.I promise I will be back but you know sometimes how you want to play outside but it rains?" Ahmed nodded his head and Farzana continued,"In the same way sometimes we plan but Allah's plans fall into place first so if it rains or Allah forbid anything does happen and I don't make it on time.I don't want you to feel sad because I will try my best to be back no matter what.So I want you to promise me that you will eat,play outside with the other children and keep on doing my chart duties."
