Farzana opened the door of the bathroom, her towel still wrapped around her head as she walked to the baby cot that sat the side of her bed.She smiled when she saw her baby girl,Ayesha’s eyes open, looking around but once she saw her mother she began to babble and a slight cry slipped through.

Farzana picked her up and kissed her cheek,“As salaam mu alaykum, baby. My baba was playing but then you saw mama and want to cry, neh? Now we have to bathie you.” Farzana took Ayesha to the bathroom where she had filled the sink with lukewarm water. She put her on the changing table, taking off her babies night onesie followed by a stinky napkin. She threw the onesie in a laundry basket on the side and the napkin into the bin.Farzana bathed the baby before picking her up and laying her on the towel.Unlike her twin sister,Ayesha kept quiet throughout her bath time.Farzana rubbed her baby’s body with oil after putting on a napkin for her and then put on a onesie on Ayesha which had popcorn in a bucket on it.She pulled on white cotton pants for her baby and placed a kiss on her cheek as she took her to the cot.

Farzana heard moaning from the cot as she walked closer only for Hafsa to cry out,Farzana laid Ayesha in the cot and she switched on the cot mobile that hung in the air.She picked up Hafsa and kissed her baby as she shook her head.

“My moaner is awake.Time for bathie.I know my baby don’t like it but we have to bathie.” Hafsa quieted down and Farzana shook her head, her baby was one fussy child who always wanted to be held.Farzana put Hafsa on the changing table which had side bars and she quickly made work of the dirty water in the sink, switching on the tap once the water had ran out.She picked up Hafsa and took off her onesie, only to turn back to switch off the tap.Farzana winced as Hafsa let out a cry between high-pitched and whiny before turning to her, blowing rasberries on her stomach which calmed the child down. She took off her napkin and disposed of it in the side bin before picking Hafsa up.It was like it always happened,Hafsa felt the change in the atmosphere as Farzana gently lowered her into the sink.

High-pitched cries was the only thing Farzana could hear as she gave the baby a bath,“I’m so sorry, baba. Two more minutes.” Farzana picked her up,laid her on the towel and dried her off.She put on a napkin on Hafsa before picking Hafsa up to cradle her to her chest,“Shh,shh, shh, sorry baby. There it’s over, sorry baby.” Farzana bounced Hafsa up and down, walking a bit in an attempt to calm the baby down. After a few minutes,Hafsa calmed down and Farzana laid her don on the changing table. She put on a white onesie like her sister but one with a heart and then a pair of white cotton pants.

She huffed in pleasure as she booped Hafsa’s nose gently,“There we go,not so bad now.” Hafsa babbled as Farzana picked her up,just as a cry rang from the bedroom. The cry that she understood pretty well,Ayesha’s hungry cry.Farzana walked into the bedroom to lay Hafsa down in the cot before picking in up Ayesha.

“My baba is hungry, let’s feed this baby.” Farzana sat down on the bed,he opened the zip of her gown and held her breast with one hand, angleing her tip towards Ayesha’s mouth.Ayesha latched on,“Bismilah-hir-Rahman-hir-Rahim.” Farzana said, she sat with her back to the headboard. She read durood as she fed her baby and once Ayesha fell asleep she got up.

Farzana could have sworn her twins were in sync with one another because as she stood up,Hafsa’s hungry cries sounded. She laid Ayesha down gently before picking up Hafsa. She repeated the process before laying Hafsa next to Ayesha. She switched off the cot mobile and kissed her daughter’s forehead.

My babies are so MashaAllah.I better take a picture and send bhabi.

Farzana did just that before walking to the cupboards. She opened the cupboards and took out the outfit she had planned for her first day as a teacher. She had woken up for fajr, then she had showered and sorted out the kids.Yet she had so much time on her hands.
