Seungmin stopped at a small café on the way home, dragging Hyunjin inside even though he didn't really want to deal with it. When they got inside, he ordered a matcha for Hyunjin and a latte for himself, along with a scoop of cinnamon ice cream for them to share. Hyunjin squirreled up his brow at the ice cream and Seungmin and asked, "Cinnamon ice cream?"Seungmin giggled and nodded. "Trust me. You'll wonder why I didn't tell you about this sooner," he teased with a smile.
Hyunjin doubted the reality of his boyfriend's statement but went along with it. They took a corner table by a window and looked out over the busy street. Hyunjin was still in his own head and Seungmin felt the need to draw him out. "When is the performance?" Seungmin asked as he stirred his latte. He wasn't sure this was the right topic for changing Hyunjin's mood, but it would change what he was focusing on.
"We still have four weeks. With my time off, that means just two weeks to get my part right. It's going to be a lot of work. Do you think I'll be able to do what I need to?" he asked, suddenly worried.
Seungmin grinned and answered, "Baby, anybody else would have me worried. You learn choreography so much faster than most of the other dancers we know, I'm just not worried. You know it by heart. Steal a page from Felix's book and mentally practice. You've seen him do that, haven't you?"
Hyunjin shrugged and nodded, still pouting slightly. He absently took a small bit of the ice cream on the spoon and tasted it. "Whoa... ok, this is good," he exclaimed, causing Seungmin to giggle.
"I told you! It probably doesn't taste great with matcha, but whatever," Seungmin grinned. "I um, I got something for you," he said softly.
Hyunjin tilted his head and looked at Seungmin curiously. "Why, Minnie?"
"Because. I'm working two jobs and I wanted to spoil my boyfriend a little. Sue me," he smiled, handing Hyunjin a small box. Hyunjin opened it carefully, uncovering a set of high-end earbuds that looked like he'd have a very hard time losing them.
"You got me beats?" Hyunjin asked sweetly, trying not to get overly excited.
Seungmin smiled and nodded. "Right now, all you've got to do is listen to music, so I wanted it to sound good. Plus, you can wear them when you dance or workout or whatever."
Hyunjin immediately put them in and synced them to his phone. "It's going to make that whole mental practice thing easier," he smiled, then hopped up from the table and stepped over to hug Seungmin and to whisper a soft, "Thank you."
Felix spotted the couple when he came in for a smoothie. He plopped down in the empty seat at their table, propping his elbows on the table and planting his chin in his hands. "Whatcha doin?" he asked playfully.
Hyunjin laughed at his childlike demeanor and shook his head. "Drinking tea... whatchu doin?" he asked.Felix snickered and hid his face while he answered, like he was worried about getting caught, "I snuck past the boss for a smoothie."
Seungmin glanced up at the amused Isa behind Felix and pointed. "That boss?" he laughed.
Felix cringed like he just got caught swearing in church. He peeked over his shoulder and turned back to the guys. "Yep. That one. I'm fired," he mumbled with a grin. He rose and spun around to take Isa's hand. "Took you long enough," he teased.
"Some of us actually work there, you know?" she laughed. Things had become a lot more relaxed since Isa made the decision to downsize the company a bit. She had to let go of a lot of employees and clients, but her mental state had gotten so bad that it had to be done.
"You lost the bet, so you're paying," Felix remarked. Isa rolled her eyes and smirked.
"You lOsT tHe bet, So yOu'Re PaYiNG," she mocked, nudging Felix's shoulder and heading to the counter.
"And what was this... bet?" Hyunjin asked.
Felix's ears turned bright pink as he looked back at Isa. She looked back at him and cocked her eyebrow. "DON'T YOU DARE!" she mouthed to him. He waved his hands, exhibiting his friends, as though he had no choice.
"We uh... well, ok. So that night we all went to the club and things got, um, interesting... with Isa and I and Chan and Amy... things stayed interesting. All. Night. I may have... fuckedherintheparkinglotandmadeherscreammyname..." Felix sort of explained. Hyunjin and Seungmin gasped in unison and laughed, shaking their heads. "She figured there were people who heard, but she bet me that nobody would say anything. So, like, all this time goes by and she thinks she's safe. Then," he started laughing, "yesterday, we were in the elevator and she called me by name because I was giving her crap. This guy in the elevator looks at me and says, "So YOUR'E Felix?" I was like, uh, yeah... and he says, "Way to go." Gives me a fist bump and gives Isa this lurid look and I lost it. I thought she was going to curl into my jacket and disappear. It was great."
Hyunjin and Seungmin burst into laughter and Isa turned around and growled, "FELIX!" causing them to laugh even harder. "I'm in so much trouble," he laughed. "See you guys later." They waved to their friend as he was led out the door by his irritated girlfriend.
Seungmin rose and took Hyunjin's hand, signaling it was time for them to go as well. "Let's get you home so you can rest," he smiled softly. As they drove home, Hyunjin was a little quiet. Seungmin looked over, afraid he was crawling back into the dark spaces again. "What are you thinking about, babe?"
Without missing a beat, Hyunjin replied, "In the parking lot???" Causing Seungmin to burst into laughter.
