They came back from their little date with smiles and Eliza was practically glowing, causing the Cullens and Volturi to give them teasing looks. The next day was hunting day for the Cullens and Eliza was left at the cabin surrounded by the Volturi kings, Sulpicia, the Witch Twins and Caitlyn.

With the Kings and Sulpicia speaking to Caitlyn, Eliza finally found the opportunity to speak with the Twins and took it gratefully. She held no grudge for the female twin, or the male one for that matter, for she knew nothing of their history and their life. And now, she realized, is a time to change that.

"Hello, Jane, Alec." Eliza said as she approached them cautiously when she found them reading in the library of her home.

"Good afternoon, Lady Bathory." Alec told her with a slight bow, while Jane hung her head, unable to look at her superior due to her shame.

"Please, don't, Jane. Stand tall and proud. You are part of the infamous Witch Twins, are you not?" Eliza said after she sent a nod to Alec. She knew the shame Jane had felt. She had been told by Jasper and she wanted it gone. They are family now, regardless of whether they actually realize it or not.

"I had attacked you, my lady. Against my better judgement, I had decided to attack you. That is unforgivable. How can I stand tall and proud after such a shameful act?" Jane nearly wailed.

"Tell me, dear. Why are you ashamed?" Eliza asked, trying to  calm the female twin down.

"At first it was just fear. I attacked someone that can take my ability away. Then the respect for your abilities came. I had attacked my superior. But worst of all, I attacked someone that had been so incredibly kind to us, even after such a shameful act that I had committed. You have a heart of gold. You have treated us as if we are your family, and I attacked you the moment I met you because I was blinded by my fury to see that. For that, I apologize, truly." Jane said after a few minutes. Jane has pride, but she knew that her blind pride is the reason why she had brought disgrace upon herself and knew that it was time to apologize.

"Jane, dear, how about you explain to me why you reacted that way? That is if you want to. Don't feel as if it is necessary that you tell me." Eliza told the tiny blonde as she sat down in front of them. Eliza watched as the twins looked at each other before Alec nodded and wrapped a comforting arm around his sister's shoulders. Jane looked back at Eliza as hesitantly gave her a genuine smile, making her actually look her age. She looked down at the ground as she spoke, not wanting to see the pity in Eliza's eyes.

"I was born before Alec, but he had always been the more matured and collected one. By the time we were 10, the villagers had begun to fear us. We were 12 and a half when they had decided to burn us at the stake after an incident that led to the disappearance of three boys. Aro, who we had met a few years prior, saved us from actually being burnt. My hatred, anger and pain manifested into my ability, while Alec's sensory deprivation abilities stemmed from his wish to escape our final human moments. We hold Aro on a pedestal because he had saved us, given us a better life. He gave us a purpose, and the Volturi had been the family we had always wished for."

Jane had looked up after telling their tale only to see Eliza crying, before the elder had tackled them in a hug.

"Oh sweethearts. I'm so so sorry that this happened to you."  Eliza pulled away and looked at Jane with a smile.

The twins are shocked. Pity had been one thing they absolutely hated seeing, but all they saw in Eliza's eyes were sadness, anger and pride.

"Why is there pride in your eyes? Why is there sadness? Anger?" Alec said, confused as he felt his heart break at the tear-filled eyes.

"Because she is proud of you. Proud of what you've accomplished. Proud of how strong you are for overcoming that hardship and coming out on top. Proud that you are a survivor." A voice said from the doorway, causing their attention to move.

Sulpicia. The woman they have started to see as their mother. A woman that educated them as her own.

Eliza nodded in agreement as she wiped her tears.

"Sadness because of what you've gone through. Anger at the people that left you behind." Eliza explained as she sat back at her chair, beside Sulpicia.

"We are so proud you, Jane, Alec. I am so ncredibly proud that you are my children." Sulpicia said as she gave them both a hug.

A hug that felt warm. Incredibly warm despite their cold temperature.

The warmest hug that caused the dam to break, and caused the twins to dry sob on the shoulder of their mother.

Their mother. The twins both simultaneously thought, smiling despite their sobs.

Eliza silently walked away from the scene with a smile, her heart a little lighter than it was, the hole closing in more slightly.

She ran into the Kings, and spoke to Aro with a smile.

"Your children needs you at the moment, Aro." She said, her smile growing even larger as the raven haired man excused himself from the conversation and swiftly walked to direction that Eliza came from.

She noticed that Caitlyn and Caius are in the middle of a chess game and took a deep breath before facing the man she wanted to talk to next.

Marcus Volturi.
