Chapter 8- Feelings

Sheldon decided to skip lunch so that he would have more time to embark on Mission Talk-to-Missy's-crush and then focus on his project after school.

'He's not even that good looking, ' Sheldon mumbled, staring down at his phone. Missy had texted him a picture of Dave. 'Sure, he's got the conventional teenage heartthrob hair and intense blue eyes... ' he trailed off. 'Aw, who am I kidding! '

As he scanned the cafeteria, his eyes landed on Penny laughing to something a boy was saying. He decided to ask her.

'Good afternoon Penny. '

'Good afternoon to you, Sheldon,' Penny answered. She was still amused by Sheldon's formalities. 'What's up?'

'Well, do you know him?' Sheldon showed her the photo.

'Oh, Dave! Yeah, he's coming over now in fact,' Penny said, waving to the lanky, athletic looking guy.

'Hey Penny. He your boyfriend?' Dave whistled.

Penny huffed and rolled her eyes. 'No, he wants to talk to you, smart alec, ' she answered swiftly but affectionately.

'Sup,' Dave looked Sheldon up and down.

'I'm Missy's brother.' Sheldon stated.

'Ohh..  ' Dave lowered his voice. 'Let's go to a corner and talk. ' He turned and flashed a winning smile to his group of friends. 'I'll be right back!'

'First things first,' Sheldon got out a piece of paper. In fact, it was more of a long list. 'Your genetic superiority in the looks department has added a few points to your favour, however, please abide by these rules in order to be the boyfriend of Missy Coop-'

Dave snatched the list from Sheldon and stared at it for a few seconds. 'I'll read it on my own. And don't worry, I'll love Missy with all my heart. ' he smiled. 'So, where does she want to meet?'

Sheldon felt a little unsettled by Dave's readiness to accept his conditions. 'The ice-cream shop ar the local Pasadena mall of course. It's a perfect datin-'

Dave cut him off. 'Sure. Thanks for the help dude. You're such a cool bro. ' he grinned and promptly returned to his table.

Sheldon usually couldn't read sarcasm, but he was getting better at it and he somehow felt Dave's words were... condescending.

'Hello, Sheldon Cooper.' A voice behind him made him jump.

'Jeepers, ' he exclaimed. 'Oh hi Amy. '

'Care to join us?' Amy asked politely. Sheldon's eyes flitted over to the table and stiffened when he saw Howard laughing with a short wavy-haired blond girl from Amy's team.

'No thank you. ' he replied and started to hurry off.

'Wait. Are you alright with it if I'll just sit and eat with you?' Amy heard herself saying.

'I suppose it wouldn't hurt. ' Sheldon sat down at an adjacent table and placed his bag beside him. Even though the food was admittedly not as bad as he'd thought, his mind was still on his sister's potential boyfriend.

'Are you alright, Sheldon? Your withdrawn pale countenance tells me something is up.'

'Well, it's just that my sister has taken a liking to this gentleman currently at Penny's table now and he gives me the most uncomfortable feeling even though he seems perfectly alright on the surface.' He confessed.

'To be honest, Penny herself doesn't exactly exude the best vibe, so I'm  not surprised her companions are jerks or bitches.' Amy exclaimed crudely.

'But I've given him the go-ahead and I don't want Missy to be hurt. ' Sheldon sighed. 'What kind of brother am I?'

'Don't worry too much, Sheldon. I have an idea. Why not we tail them after school together and check on his attitude and behavior towards her?'

'We?' Sheldon raised an eyebrow.

'Umm, I just assumed since I came up with the plan, it'll be better if I could go along with you if you don't mind,' Amy mumbled, her ears burning. (Thankfully hidden by her long hair)

'I was going to suggest you tail them while I work on the project, ' Sheldon said. 'But I suppose I can't trust my ex nemesis so easily. '

'Trust me, it will work. ' Amy's eyes twinkled.

Sheldon resumed eating his lunch, curious as to Amy's sudden chummy behavior towards him.
