Chapter 20- The Truth Hurts

Sheldon was bombarded almost immediately by his sister when he walked through the door after school.

'Where were you?' Missy demanded. 'Dave told me what happened today. You suck. '

'How -'

'Whatever. I just want to tell you thanks for helping us, but now you're no longer needed. So please stay out of our business.' Missy said seriously.

'Ok. ' Sheldon said simply, much to Missy's surprise. Usually he tended to launch into a long, boring lecture trying to prove that his opinion was right.

Missy nodded slowly and slunk out the door. She didn't know what had changed her usually stubborn brother's mind, but she was glad he was no longer on her case and she finally could sneak a kiss with Dave without feeling like she was being watched.

Dave haden't called since last night, which was pretty odd since he usually talked to her on the phone after school. But she shouldn't be so desperate. After all, Dave was a busy guy with many committments.

The smile on her face last night as she fell asleep was because of the single sweet text he'd sent.

Meet tomorrow after school at 4? Got a surprise for you ;)

She took a deep breath, smoothed out imaginary wrinkles down her dress, plumped up her red curls over her shoulders, and stepped into the cafe.

An involuntary grin appeared slowly on her face as she spotted his laughing face. He was probably watching one of the funny cat videos he always sent her and pestered her to watch.

She did not notice the head of brown curls which was thrown back in laughter as she giggled at Dave's joke.

'He-' Missy was starting to slide into the seat opposite him when her eyes met the girl's. She raised an eyebrow. 'Uh, is she your friend?'

'Oh hi Missy. Uh Daphne, meet Missy. Missy, Daphne. ' he said awkwardly.

Daphne let out a high -pitched giggle. 'Haaay Missy, ' she gave a little finger wave.

'Nice to see you, Missy. ' Dave's expression held an oddly closed off look. As if he didn't want Missy to be there.

Perplexed, Missy sat down anyway. 'So, What's the surprise?' She smiled.

'What? ' Dave's eyebrows crinkled.

'Uh. You asked me to meet you?'

'I did?' Dave frowned and checked his iPhone 6.

'Aww sweetie, you're such a muddlehead. ' Daphne cupped her hands beneath her chin and stared at Dave like she wanted to devour him in fervent lust.

Missy's blood ran cold.

'Hey,' Missy could feel her blood pressure rise steadily. 'Who exactly are you?'

'Wow, Maddy, no need to get all uptight. ' Daphne's laugh grated on her nerves. 'I'm his girlfriend. Duh. '

'Uh, Daphne... ' Dave was panic-striken.

'I love you too. ' Daphne grinned.

Missy stood up abruptly and ran.

'Hey, hey. It's alright. ' an unfamiliar blonde girl came up to her and rubbed her back as she bawled her eyes out.

'What-- who are you?' Missy narrowed her teary eyes.

'Dave's girlfriend. Or should I say, ex girlfriend.' She looked at Missy in the eye. 'Girl, you don't have to feel this way. He's not worth any tears. '

'I just... he was the first guy I genuinely liked.'

Penny shot her a rueful smile. 'Ok, let me admit...I was the one who sent the text from his phone. I didn't want to believe it but then... well, rumours fly.' She sighed. 'Sheldon was just so worked up that you would, uh, end up doing the wrong thing. So we came up with this.'

'Shelly...' Missy mumbled, filling with love for her overprotective brother.

'And anyway, that girl inside? She's up to no good, and I don't only mean a bitch. '

'Tell me more.' Missy said as she caught a strange glint in her eyes.

The next day at school, Penny looked at her friends before her. Surprisingly, she'd skipped lunch and had come to openly hang out with them at their table.

'Guys! ' she clapped her hands together, her voice commanding attention. 'You must be wondering what I have gathered all of you here for.'

Leonard raised a puzzled eyebrow.

'Sorry, been wanting to say this in real life just as they do on tv, ' Penny grinned.

'Oh, goody, are you treating us to see Galactic Wars?' It had recently launched in theatres and honestly, Sheldon was most excited at the part where the credits will roll and his name will be up there with the famous directors. (A/n: Read my previous fanfic, The Big Bang Theory Goes to Hollywood)

'For us all, 'Penny amended. 'I think I've found,' she lowered her voice. 'The potential murderer. '

'Perpetra-'

'Whatevs. Anyway, I'm going to skip the next lesson, so I need one of you to pass a note to Mr Fritz for me.'

'Why?'

'Because I'm gonna join the seniors for lunch. ' Penny winked.
