Chapter 14- Ain't cut out for your love affair

'Case closed! ' Penny exclaimed triumphantly and couldn't contain her smugness, immediately shooting Sheldon a i-told-you-so glare.

'Not so fast. ' Sheldon shook his head. 'You, being an amateur detective, have overlooked one important detail. Even though this proves that he's indeed having an affair with Ms Chang -'

'-it's not a big enough motive for attempted murder, in addition, as teenagers would say in modern context, Mr P  has got nothin on Murdoch. ' Amy finished. She glowed visibly when Sheldon nodded approvingly at her deduction.

'I knew that. I'm just saying, this is a huge lead. ' Penny glared.

'Down the wrong path,' Amy mumbled.

'Hey I found this, ' Leonard handed Penny a thin folder awkwardly, avoiding her glance.

'It's just a student's particulars. Looks like he wasn't exactly a model student, ' Penny raised an eyebrow as she scanned his report card. 'Well, well... ' she looked quite embarrassed all of a sudden.

'What?' Howard was going through a stack of papers and doing something with his phone.

'I found David Houven's records.' Penny said uneasily.

'Whoever that is, if he isn't gonna help in our search, then I'm afraid you're just wasting your time,' Amy said airily as she mentally thanked George the monkey for finding the incriminating lead previously.

'You mean Dave? 'Leonard whirled around sharply.

'Um, yeah. ' Penny's ears turned scarlet.

'I thought he was a hottie and a smartie,' Leonard mimicked in Penny's voice.

'He is smart. How else do you think he got here?' Penny deflected his question.

'Hang on.' Sheldon came over. 'Dave the guy who is dating my sister?'

Penny threw him a strange look and realisation dawned on her. 'Wait, so you asked for him because your sister is dating him?' she asked as her mind returned to when Sheldon showed her the photo of Dave.

'Yes.' Sheldon nodded calmly. 'May I ask why you're exhibiting signs of agitation? '

'Nothing. ' Penny said swiftly. 'Um, if you guys can't find anything else, let's just turn in for the night. ' she left the room  hurriedly.

'I'm glad she came to her senses. Let's go.' Howard said quickly.

'Wait. Sheldon. Your sister is dating Dave?' Leonard asked incredulously.

'The last time I checked, they went iceskating and left me and Amy alone so we had to catch a movie, ' Sheldon said truthfully as Amy blushed.

'That's bad.' Leonard said quietly. 'Because Penny is supposedly with him.'

'Penny? Oh, that vixen! ' Sheldon narrowed his eyes.

'No Sheldon, it's Dave. He's a player.' 'How does being on the football team have anything to do with this?'

'Keep walking, Sheldon.' Leonard sighed.
