Chapter 23- Sheldon Makes A Decision

It was Saturday morning at the Cooper household. Sheldon was still in his PJ's, eating cereal and watching Dr. Who on TV when a knock sounded on the door.

'Must be Lisa. ' Missy brightened, blowing on her freshly painted coat of neon colored nails. After getting cheated on, she'd sworn off all boys and vowed to never date til she was 20, so she was working on her female relationships. But even Sheldon could tell that it was very likely she'd go back on here word soon, but his smart sister would definitely find someone more worthy.

'Oh hi, ' Lisa's face dropped a little.

'I'm looking for Sheldon Cooper? '

'Goodness gracious! ' Sheldon blurted, almost chocking on his cereal. 'Tell her to give me two minutes please. '

Sheldon practically ran to his bedroom and pulled on a shirt and pants, gave himself a once over in the full length mirror, and darted out.

'Hello Amy. ' he greeted. 'What are you here for, and at such an early hour?'

'I came here to apologize for my mistake. It turns out you were right. '

'About? '

'This. Me, ' she gestured towards herself. 'I am who I am, and Penny cannot change me. '

'Wow. What made you come to this conclusion? '

'Well, I didn't have fun gossiping about people as much as I thought I would. They made me feel uncomfortable in my own skin and I felt compelled to be someone totally different. ' Amy confessed. 'But now, I'd take being a science nerd over a bleached blonde airhead any day.'

'Well, Amy Farrah Fowler,' Sheldon said. 'I can see now that you do have your merits. I like that.'

Amy blushed. 'Thank you Sheldon. Before I go, I wanted to ask you something. '

'Yes?'

'Well, there's this dance coming up that the academy organised since we missed orientation and all. I was wondering -'

Before Amy could finish, a head of blond hair appeared in Sheldon's peripheral vision.

'Oh, hey Amy! What are you doing here?' Penny said awkwardly, looking a little surprised.

'To apologize to Sheldon. And Penny... I actually don't have anything against you.You were trying to help me feel better. After all, you did make me feel like a total girl again, ' Amy conceded, mustering a smile.

'I'm glad you understand. And you're perfect just the way you are. ' Penny said ruefully.

'So you came to my house to talk to Amy? ' Sheldon raised an eyebrow at Penny.

Penny grinned. 'No, silly. I wanted to ask you something. And, I do want to thank you for the hard work you've put in and everything.'

'Uh, Amy was here first though...' Sheldon hesitated. Penny looked especially refreshed today, but he wasn't gonna let that impair his judgement. 'How about you guys say it at the same time?'

'I think we'll probably ask different things. ' Amy said uncomfortably.

'Yeah well, I want to be fair. ' Sheldon said stubbornly.

'Um, alright. ' Penny shrugged.

'Sheldon, will you go to the dance with me?'
