The party was on full swing when we arrived. The front yard was strewn with red plastic cups and couples making out.
Everyone was wearing formal attire and some of the girls looked really pretty in their expensive dresses and beautiful masks.
I hooked my arm with Caspian's as we walked up the driveway to the front door. The Party Rock Anthem was blasting through the speakers and tons of drunk teenagers were scattered around the house.
No sooner have I thought that the party will actually be nice and then Meghan showed up. She had a reef gold, pencil dress on and her hair hung perfectly curled down her back. I had to admit, she looked beautiful, expect for the low cut. I could see half of her breasts and it put me off the whole look.
"I didn't think this was your type of party, Rebecca." Meghan said nonchalantly.
"Meghan, already picking on me, I see." I replied in a cold tone.
"I am only criticizing you in a petty way, dear Rebecca." Her eyes landed on Caspian and I had the opportunity to roll my eyes.
"My, look at you. Caspian, you look dashing." She bit her lower lip in a seductive way which made me quell the impulse to throttle the life out of her.
"You look rather beautiful yourself, Meghan." He replied. I knew he said that simply to be civil, but he should be calling me beautiful, not an attention-seeking, Caspian-wanting, seductive cow. Too much? When it came to Meghan, I couldn't control my thoughts nor emotions. To think she was my friend and then she went and slept with my boyfriend.
"You don't mind if I steal him for a dance?" Meghan asked. I clenched my fists at my sides. She had some nerve!
"Actually I d-"
"No, she doesn't." Caspian interrupted me. I stared at him in confusion, but he simply gave me a just-relax type of look before Meghan swept him away into the crowd of dancing teenagers.
"Well, that was odd." I heard Terry saying behind me.
"Let's just go get something to drink." I insisted.
"But Becca, you don't drink." Terry and Lisa shared a look of confusion.
"There's always a first for everything." I replied vaguely. I didn't feel like elaborating.
The three of us got drinks and stayed together the rest of the night. I didn't drink much. I only had too cups. I wanted to be sober when I take on Meghan or Caspian. He hasn't returned since Meghan waltzed him away.
"I am going to find Caspian." I told Terry and Lisa. They nodded and I made me way outside to the bonfire. That's usually where the popular people hang out and knowing Meghan, she took Caspian there.
My stomach turned and I dreaded what I would see when I reached the bonfire. The bonfire came into sight and at first there was no sign of Meghan nor Caspian until a group of people separated and the reality set in.
Meghan sat straddled on Caspian's lap with their tongues down each other's throats. His hands were placed on the small if her back and her hands were running through his hair.
It felt like all of the air was forced out of my lungs, leaving me breathless. My eyes stung with hot tears and my mouth was agape. My heart was shattered and it literally felt as if the shattered pieces of my heart pierced through my organs causing pain throughout my entire body.
"Caspian?" I managed to force out of my dry lips. He opened his mouth to say something, but I wasn't stupid enough to listen to his lies.
"How could you?" I had to fight back the urge to punch him. My voice was sad and broken.
Before he could speak, I was running towards the house, tears blocking my view. I ran past Terry and Lisa on my way to the front door. They attempted to stop me, but I told them to leave me alone.
I was halfway across the front yard when I was yanked back into Caspian's chest. They area of my skin where he held onto my wrist ignited into flames, but I ignored the sensation.
"Let me explain." Caspian begun.
"No! I am not going to listen to your lies this time. I believed them before. I was naïve and stupid, but my eyes are opened now." My words came out calmer than I felt. I yanked my wrist from his grip and stalked away from him, but he yanked me back.
"Let go of me. I am too disgusted to even look at you right now." I managed to get out between my sobs.
"Rebecca, it's really not what it looks like." He started.
"How cliché, is it not? It's the second time I've heard that line coming out of your mouth in a matter of a few months. I don't want to hear it." I snapped. It seemed to silence him and he released my wrist. I turned my back on him and wanted to walk away, but there were things that weren't better unsaid; things that needed to be said.
"You're not the guy I thought you were. You're a liar and a cheater. You are a heartbroken heartbreaker and a bad boy. I thought you were my type, but I was wrong. You don't deserve me, Caspian, and all this time I've been wasting my time on you. Stay away from me. There will never be an 'us'; a 'you-and-me'." Tears rolled down my cheeks and my voice began to break with my sobs.
"I tried my best and now I am tired." I slapped him across his face. "You make me sick." I spat out and walked away. I didn't bother to look back. A part of me wanted him to run after me and tell me it was all a dream, but the more logical part of me knew this was very real; it was reality.
