"I'm so scared, Caspian." My voice quivered as I looked around my empty room.
"It's a new start for the both of us. College will change us, I know, but our love won't. A true lover can never be stolen." He picked up his bags and I picked up mine and we descended down the steps to the kitchen.
"Look at you two, all grown up." My mother shrieked and Mr Carter chuckled.
"Come on. If we don't leave now we will hit afternoon traffic." Mr Carter smiled and gently took my bags from me.
I walked towards my mom and hugged her tightly. "I'll miss you." I whispered into her ear.
"You go have some fun, my dear. Grow up, but have fun." My mother placed a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Let's get going. Terry and Lisa are already on campus." Caspian shouted from the front door.
"You look after my daughter, you hear me mister?" My mother pointed her finger jokingly.
"Yes ma'am." Caspian saluted before he pulled my mother into a bear-hug.
My mother followed us to Mr Carter's car and waved us goodbye as we climbed in and drove away. I turned to Caspian who had his hand on my thigh.
"A new beginning." I said nervously.
"A new beginning for us." Caspian corrected me and brought my hand to his lips and kissed my knuckles.
I smiled and laid my head on his shoulder as we readied ourselves for the four hour drive to campus.
