She Was Worth It

"When we find your mother, I need you to stay hidden. Michael and I will do our best in keeping Lucifer and his demons busy, but you need to get her out of hell as fast as you can. Don't look back. Don't wait for us, we'll be fine," Jackson instructed me. I saw Michael twitch as he heard Jackson speak. "What's going on with you two? Michael won't even look at you and you won't even acknowledge his presence!" I said frowning at the two as well slowly gained speed off the ground. "Tell him," Jackson said. He was staring at the back of Michael's head with emotions flying all across his face. "Lucifer and I saw your mother decades ago. We both fell in love with her and she picked Lucifer. I tried to move on and I got a she-wolf from a royal bloodline in New Orleans pregnant. Years later, Tala found her true mate and left Lucifer. He was not happy. She kept herself away from the little boy at first but then again fate has mysterious ways of pulling those that belong together back toward each other. She ended up with him and she had a son. Little did she know that I was the father to her true mate. Jackson Kenner is my son," Michael explained. I almost lost concentration of what was going on. I looked between my father and Michael. The similarities were there, how had I missed them before? "So that's why Lucifer took her. He knows you are Jackson's father and he blames you for losing her," I stated. Michael gave a slight nod. "If I wouldn't had fathered Jackson then Tala might have still been with Lucifer," Michael said. I sighed. "So to punish all of us, he took her," I whispered. "But we'll get her back. I don't care what it takes," Michael said with a deep voice. I could tell that a part of him still loved her, but he held it at bay because he knew who she really belonged with. "Well then, what are we waiting on?" I asked. "This is going to hurt me, but not you two. Technically you have tainted blood so you're not pure angel," Michael said. I nodded and watched as he started picking up incredible speed. "Since angels can travel between worlds, I can open the portal to hell, but you have to quickly follow me," he instructed. I nodded and got as close to my father's right shoulder as I could. This would hurt Michael, but not us. I smiled as I saw a whole start to open in the sky. We had ascended far beyond human eyes could see and now the portal hole was open. We shot through in one fluid motion as soon as Michael had passed through. "We're here, which means that Lucifer knows that I'm here. Both of you can fly under the radar somewhat. Go find her Wolfram, we'll handle the rest," Michael instructed. I nodded and broke away from the rest. Since we had entered the new dimension, my wings had turned solid black. Somewhere within me, I knew it was because of my tainted blood and being in this place. I wasn't even given a second look as I landed and tucked my wings away. The other demons didn't pay me any mind as I made my way toward a small gathering. "She is in the north tower. Two guards will be assigned to protect her at all times. Under no circumstance are you to speak with her, or interact with her," a demon said. He looked like he was half-angel, because his wings were smaller than mine but they were dark black. "You and you!" he growled pointing to me and another, horned demon standing beside me. "You will have first watch. Move it," he instructed. I had seriously lucked-up. "Follow me, you don't look familiar," the horned demon said. I watched as he turned and headed toward the huge castle that was placed a football field away. "Who are we guarding?" I asked. He grunted. "Very new I see. Well, you must have been away on missions for a little while. We are guarding Master Lucifer's new mate. Apparently he has chosen a worthy angel half-breed to carry his offspring, his only heir," he explained. I didn't say anything else as I followed him into the castle. He handed me a red robe to slide on and I followed his instructions. We were going to save my mother.

"This is where we will be stationed. We were instructed not to interact with her, unless she needs something," he said as we stopped in front of a metal door. I didn't say anything as I heard her growl deeply. I peaked inside and saw my mother.  She was standing near the door and she was pissed off. Her wings were unfurled behind her and her eyes were sparkling with two different colors as they glowed. Her teeth were long canine fangs and I saw her curly hair was tossed back in a wild look. She looked feral. "We will be protecting you today," the horned demon said. She growled deeply and snarled. "You aren't protecting me, you are holding me prisoner against my will," she snapped. I didn't say anything and had lowered my head again to keep her from seeing who I was. When the horned demon turned his back to us, I raised my head and she looked me straight in the face. Surprise flickered across her eyes and then horror. I gave her a soft smile and flicked my eyes to the demon. She understood that I needed to distract him. Killing him would bring too much attention. "What is your name demon?" she asked. He turned to look at her again. "My name is Thantos," he said. She looked him up and down and then she sighed. "It's been a few hours since I was brought any food or water, or blood. Can you please do me a favor and bring me one of the above?" she asked. She stood there for a moment and then he flicked his head toward me. "Which will you like better?" he asked. She seemed to be debating on it for a moment and then she sighed. "I guess A- will do," she said. He nodded and turned to me. "Don't leave your post. I'll be back," he said. Then he turned and left, hanging his robe on the outside wall as he walked away. I turned to look at her. "The bolt will burn an angel's hand," she commented. I reached over and very gently placed my palm on the bolt, immediately a small burning sensation started pulsating through the bolt. "I can take it, just be ready to slip that cloak on when I get it open," I said. I slid the bolt back and she rushed to cover herself with the robe. We shut the door back and bolted it again and started making our way through the castle.

I kept her behind me, just in case we ran into anyone, but we made it down the stairs and through a few of the rooms before we stopped before a huge doorway. The doors was open and the view inside the room reminded me of a throne room. "I see that you have come here looking for her," I heard a deep voice say. I got a full view when the owner of the voice turned around and faced the rest of the room. He couldn't pick me out in a crowd though. "I've come to ask for her release," Michael said. He was standing there, but my father was being restrained by three demons who had chained him. "I won't ask again," Michael said. I could see the fire in Lucifer's eyes and I knew that he had a heart of stone. He wasn't what I had pictured. I had actually pictured someone with horns, wings, and a human face. He was tall for a man, over 6 foot and his hair was black as night. His eyes were red, a demon's eyes. His wings were the blackest pair of wings that I had ever seen on anyone. "Well, I have received your message, let me think on it for a few days and I'll give you your answer in three days. I'll even let you leave here with your half-mutt son," he said with disgust. "He's your nephew," Michael said. I could see hesitation in Lucifer's eyes. "I'll let you both leave in peace, this is my one and only offer," Lucifer said. "Because you know by harming one of us, she'll never love you again," Michael said. I could see Lucifer whirl around at Michael's words. "Leave brother, before I make a regret," Lucifer said. Michael nodded and turned to Jackson. "Come on," Michael said. The chains disappeared from around Jackson and he stood up. "We can't just leave her here," Jackson growled. "Yes, we can. For now. He won't make any drastic decisions and he won't harm her, at least for three more days," Michael said. Jackson was trying to make it look convincing. I turned and led my mother out of the castle and toward the edge of the demons that were milling about the castle grounds. "I have to wait for Michael to open the portal," I whispered. She had remained in her cloak, as had I. "Get ready," I instructed as I saw Michael and Jackson exit the castle. I slipped out of my cloak and they immediately saw me. Michael unfurled his wings and so did my father, that's when a loud shout sliced through the air. My mother and I came out of our robes and unfurled wings. Michael and Jackson shot to the sky and we followed. I heard Lucifer scream with rage and we were through the portal before he could catch us. We had saved her.
