Chapter 10

Cassie's P.O.V

When I returned from my run I stopped at the edge of the woods not wanting to go inside yet. I was only there for about a minute when I felt someones eyes on me. I spun around growling until I realized who was walking up to me. It was Kira how was she out in the sun. I didn't know what to do but I made a quick decision, I put a confused look on my face as she walked closer to me.

" Hey" she said as she raised her arm to shake my hand. I stood still.

"I'm Kira" she said after realizing I wasn't going to shake her hand she dropped her hand.

"I-I know, I'm Cassie" I stuttered unintentional. She stood there looking at me for a few seconds it made me shake under her gaze.

"I just figured i would introduce myself to the famous alpha I have been hearing about for the last few months."

"Well its nice to meet you Kira, is there something I can help you with, do you need anything" I asked still wondering how she was un affected by the sun. Could it be because of her being a hybrid.

"Nope" Is all she said but she still stood looking at me.

"Well maybe you can answer my question, how is it you are outside right now, in the sun?"

"I'm not entirely sure, I have always been different then the others by being able to walk in the day" she explained with a slight smile.

"Ah I see. I imagine you are quite bored then." I said as an idea formed in my head.

"Yeah I geuss."

"Would you like to join me for a walk" I was tired from my run but I couldn't pass up a chance to spend time with her. This is crazy I literally just met her. She is my mate and a girl, yet I cant pull myself away from her.

"Umm, yeah sure" she said looking at the ground.

"Good, follow me" I said a little excited. I turned around and started walking threw the woods. I could hear her footsteps behind me and smiled to myself.

" So, Are you related to Drako or something?" I ask trying to make conversation.

"Ha no, we just call ourselves family, Iv known him ever sense I was turned."

" Oh, that's nice" I say.

" I guess but it has its ups and downs."

" I'm sure it does everything has ups and downs, it just depends on how you look at things to decide if it is an up, or if it is a down." I said stopping and turning around, when she ran into me from my sudden stop. We landed on the ground her atop of me. We stared at each other for a long time. I was holding my breath because of the electricity her skin was sending through my body and her scent made me want to mark her then and there as mine for the rest of eternity. I pulled her off of me standing us both up. She looked startled as if she had just got pulled out of deep thought.

" Are you hurt?" I asked sounding a little to concerned.

" No, are you?" she asked looking at me up and down when she got to my side and gasped covering her mouth. I looked down and noticed that I was bleeding, nothing bad just a scrape. But then I realized, oh shit. I covered the blood with both of my hands and looked at her apologetically.

" Im so sorry Kira" I said softly. Silently freaking out.

"why are you sorry?"

"The blood" I said confused.

She laughed " The blood doesn't bother me, I was worried about you that is a serious cut."

It was my turn to laugh. " I think your forgetting.." I said as I uncovered my side to revile there was no longer a cut or even a scar there.

She looked at me amazed and then we both started laughing. After we laughed for what seemed like hours we decided to continue our walk.

"So where are we going anyway?"

"Just a place I know" I say

"Well are we close?" she asked

"Yes, about ten more minutes"

When we reached the place I had been going to ever sense I was little. I turned to look at her, she was standing there amazed. It was a clearing with a river running through it, on one side stood a water fall with a little cave on the other side of the falling water. There were blue and purple flowers surrounding the area. But, the best part was the calming sound of the running water.

"This place is beautiful" She said still looking around.

" Yeah" I said with a warm smile and heading to a log beside the river to sit. I motioned for her to do the same. When she sat down beside me we were almost touching. It sent shivers down my spine but she jumped sideways away from me.

"So, who are you really?" She asked me.

"What do you mean?" I said looking at her confused.

" I can see you are trying to be strong for your pack, but I can also see you are hiding something like deep hurt, and there is something else you are hiding but I cant pin point it." She said looking at me with those beautiful icy eyes. There was something about those eyes that made me want to stare into them all day. She was beautiful with her long blond hair braided at the back of her head, and her blue eyes that were almost to familiar, the way her skin looked so soft and flawless. Her lips were full and pink. I almost got lost in staring at her but then I remembered I was supposed to be answering her question. It also scared me how I was looking at this strange girl that I had just met.

"I'm not sure I know what you mean." Just then I heard a low growl, which I could only describe as a warning growl, coming from the woods to our left. In one quick motion I stood up in a fighting position, pushing Kira behind me and growled harshly. There was something off about the growls I heard that followed. I knew it wasn't anyone from the pack, they know not to growl at an alpha. Something was wrong very wrong and all I could think about was getting Kira out of here. Then suddenly something came pouncing on me from the direction the growls came from. I immediately threw it off and shifted. My wolf had taken over and pounced at the wolf that had jumped on me. I had to muster up all the strength I could to get my wolf to stop. Finally it worked when she realized that the wolf she had been trying to kill, was not a werewolf. We stood staring for a moment before I heard a voice in my head

'Who are you?'

'I should be the one asking you that and why you are in my territory' I said, looking at the wolf as she backed up slowly bowing her head.

'I'm so sorry, I had no idea this area was claimed. I was passing threw last night with my cubs and we decided to spend the night in that cave. We will be leaving now. I don't want trouble.' She said turning around.

'Wait, what is your name?' I asked.

'A wise wolf shall not speak their name unless one is trustworthy to know' She spoke in almost an angelic tone.

'Why don't you stay, but I will have you know you are not dealing with just regular wolves. And you will not stay for free.' I said making it known that I am alpha here.

'I know what you are. And I thank you for your kindness. What shall be my price?'

'I would like you to patrol my boarders and howl at any suspicious activity also, the girl over there protect here no matter what. I will have some pack members come and show you around and also keep an eye on you for what I call a trail period, if you pass we will hold a welcoming, and you may join my pack.' I had no clue what had come over me the words just came like someone had said them for me.

'Agreed' she said running off.

'What the hell just happened?' I had to stop myself from answering. Was that really just Kira's voice in my head asking what had happened?
