Chapter 13

I charged the large beast, but he was flung from in front of me. I looked to see what the cause, and to my surprise Kira was standing where the beast had just been awaiting my attack. I was shocked as I stood and watched what played out in front of me.

As the beast stood and growled at Kira, and she let out a gruesome growl right back. The beast pounced towards Kira, as she soared over him, I could see her skin began to rip open, as her paws began clawing through her hands. It was over almost as soon as it started. She landed on all fours and spun around.

Kira grabbed the beast by the throat, and barred her teeth deep within, until we all heard his bones being crushed. When she was sure he was dead she picked it up, and dropped its body at my feet, then bowed her head to submit. At this point I was astounded. I threw my head back and let out the loudest howl I could, and soon enough Kira joined me. We howled in victory together. It was then that I realized that what she had just done by submitting her kill to me she was asking permission to join my pack, and I gladly excepted.

"What the hell just happened?" I heard Jeff through our mind link.

"I'll explain later, right now I am going up stairs to get dressed I want you to take Alex to the medical room I'll be right there." I said as I looked at Kira.

"Kira, can you hear me?" I asked testing my theory.

Kira looked at me confused. "Yes I can hear you, but how?"

"I don't have time to explain right now. I need you to shift back and get dressed, then meet me at the bottom of the stairs in five minutes. Can you do that?"

"Yeah I will be there." She said as she turned and galloped away. I headed up stairs. When I got to my room I shifted and put some clothes on, then headed back downstairs. Kira was already there waiting for me.

"Follow me." I instructed. As I started towards the medical room she followed suit behind me. When we arrived Jeff and Sophie already had Alex on the exam table. She was still unconscious, and bleeding. I turned to Jeff,

"What do we do?"

"I can stitch her up, and she will heal within a few hours." He explained while getting supplies together.

"Alright, I am going to take patrol for the rest of the day. I will be taking Kira with me." I said as I took Kira's hand and led her to the back door and to the forest. When we entered the tree line I let go of her hand, and instantly missed it. When we were out of earshot from the house I stopped and turned around to see Kira deep in thought.

"What are you thinking?" I asked.

"I just don't know what's happening, ever since we got here I have been feeling weird I changed into a freaking wolf the other night, I can hear you in my head, and I have this strange feeling to protect you. And not to mention the word 'mate' in my head when I first met you. I don't know what any of this means, Cassie and I am scared."

She was yelling, I could tell she was scared and all I wanted to do was tell her everything will be alright, but I couldn't, who was I to say that this whole thing was going to be fine who was I to know for a fact I could keep her safe forever. All I know right now is I would give my life for her and do everything in my power to keep her safe for as long as I can. I took her hand and led her back to the waterfall where I sat her down and then sat down myself next to her in the grass.

"Kira, you need to know that I won't let anything happen to you, but you need to stay calm when I explain to you what has been going on. Can you do that for me?"

"Yeah, I guess." She said with worried eyes.

"Okay, I suppose ill start from the night we first saw each other. When I saw you, something in me changed, and I don't just mean that I shifted. I began feeling more in charge and powerful among my pack. Not to mention that when we locked eyes I uncontrollably shifted, and I also heard the word 'mate'. Kira, that means that we are mated by the goddess." I waited for her response. It never came, she just stared at the ground waiting for me to continue. So I went on.

"That is part of the reason we can talk through our minds. The other reason, is back at the house when you killed the beast the wolf's instinct in you kicked in. Your wolf knew that, one you are my mate and you belong in my pack, also that you will be safe in a pack. Wolves don't normally walk alone, unless you become banished or decide to take off on your own, which in return you become a rogue wolf, hence the beast you killed back at home. So your wolf took over and submitted itself to me, and I gladly accepted, so now anytime the packs mind link is open, you won't just hear me you will hear everyone in the pack." I paused to see if she wanted to say something, but it didn't seem like she did so I continued.

"Here is the big part though. Kira you are a hybrid, and not just a hybrid, you are the only one. We are both part of a prophecy, it goes like this, the goddess will pair a female werewolf to a female hybrid, as a test to see that hybrids will be allowed to live in the future. The reason why you just shifted the other day is because of me. I am your mate so I awakened the wolf in you." As I finished she lifted her head to look at me, she looked exhausted and her cheeks were stained with tears. I pulled her into my arms and held her tight. It felt so right with her in my arms, and the sparks that continued through my body every where we touched was phenomenal. It only lasted a few seconds before she pulled away and asked me to take her home. I understood completely, it was a lot to take in all at once. So I did as she asked and walked her home. It was a silent walk, but it felt good to be next to her.

When we got to the house I went to my room and shut the door, not five minutes later there was a knock on my door. I opened it to find Kira looking up at me.

" Can I lay in here?" she asked looking down slowly.

"Umm, yeah come in." She walked through the doorway and curled up on my bed.

"Ill just go downstairs." I said as I turned to leave.

"No! please stay and come lay with me?" She asked. I was shocked but I went to the bed and laid next to her.
