"You always have to try to be the hero, Chris!"

The moment Leon, Chris and Rebecca found the rooftop floor of Arias' hideout, the rattle of a gun rang as Chris pushed Leon back. The captain glanced about the corner, seeing Arias with a Beretta. He scowled and turned to Leon and Rebecca. He then told them, "Leon, you go with Rebecca and wait until DC and Nadia cover me."

"What?" Leon protested. He told him, "There's no way I'm going to let you have him all to yourself."

"Leon," Chris frowned and shook his head. "I have spent an entire day flying across the States to get to you. I don't know what Arias did to you, but I'm not going to risk you getting even more hurt than you have been already."

Leon frowned. He shook his head and told him, "Chris, I can stay and help!"

"No," Chris told him firmly. "Leon, go with Rebecca, DC and Nadia. I will come back, I promise."

Leon felt his heart shatter. Chris Redfield. Everything the captain of the BSAA was doing was more than just to satisfy a personal vendetta. It was more than just mere duty. He came for Leon. He came for his Leon.

Leon wanted badly to protest (his masculine pride burned in his cheeks and warmed his ears in frustration). He wanted to stay. He wanted to stay with Chris and help him put an end to Arias. He wanted to punish Arias for injecting him with the A-virus and raping him. He wanted to kill him.

But yet...he couldn't...his heart told him it would not do.

Putting an end to an arms dealer to keep the world safe was one matter; the man infected several thousands of New Yorkers from what Leon had heard in the building alone from Chris' rescue. Putting an end to him to satisfy the factor of revenge, to satisfy a vendetta...no...it was not right. It made men no differently into monsters. It'd do justice...but it was not the same, not if it was done for a greater purpose.

He found himself calming. He grabbed Chris' arm. He told him, "Chris...don't do this because of a grudge..."

Chris frowned. His brows knit for a moment as if to not understand the agent. Leon, however, continued, "Do this for New York. Do this for everyone who's been infected with the A-virus."

He swallowed a breath.

"...Do this for me. I know you...I know you will do the right thing."

Chris stared at Leon, and the agent couldn't help but stare back. Those exact words were said back in China, when they departed the first time after their moment.

Chris nodded. As Rebecca stood to lead Leon away, the Captain stole one more kiss from the agent. Leon, startled, jumped, but calmed. He pulled back, watching the bigger male.

"Be safe."

Leon nodded. He turned, paused, and looked back at Chris. The Captain darted around the corner, echoes of gunfire ringing in his ears. He stayed where he stood, even as Rebecca tugged him gently. She told him, "Leon, we need to go."

The agent nodded. Step after step, he followed her to the elevator. The doors closed behind him, and in that moment, Leon felt...numb...

They flew back to Colorado, back to the resort where Leon was staying at the time. Hunnigan had Cristiana, safe and sound like Chris had told him. But still, even as he held his baby, Leon couldn't help but look down the road, maybe hoping that Chris would show up.

Hoping that the man was still alive somehow...

Was he? Was Chris still alive? Or did Glenn finally do away with him after all? Too many questions ran through Leon's mind. He wished Chris was still all right...
