Virgo didn't want to run, but he also wanted to live, so he had no choice.
In other words, being chased by a woman-snake-hybrid-thing wasn't on his to-do list.
He didn't know what was chasing him, but he had seen enough of these things to know that they were bad news.
Virgo hid in a cardboard box in an alley as the snake-like woman made her way towards him.
"I know that you're here, Victor Maidenssson." She hissed.
Virgo grimaced at the mention of his real name. It wasn't really his fault that he had become a convicted murderer. Every day, these weird monster hybrid things would come after him, and he would be forced to kill them. For some reason, only he seemed to see that these were monsters. The police department, and everyone else, thought that they were humans.
Maybe I'm just going crazy. Virgo thought to himself.
He waited for a few more minutes before getting out of the cardboard box and hoping that the monster wasn't here. But she was.
"Why won't you leave me alone?" He asked her.
"Well, I can't disssressspect my bossssss, can't I?" She replied.
Virgo grabbed his sword, which he had found one night while raiding his old house, and held it in front of him, threatening the snake woman and saying, "I'll have to kill you if you don't back off."
"Then kill me." She taunted him. "Unlessssss you're ssscared."
Virgo was, in fact, terrified. He just wanted to be left alone, by these monsters, by the police, by everyone. He just wanted to start a new life and be a normal person. Out of all the people on Earth, why did it have to be him that was a 16 year old "murderer" who's wanted everywhere in New York?
Virgo turned and ran. He reached a hill, where a giant archway with the words "Camp Half Blood" on it stood. Beyond the archway was what looked like a camp.
The snake lady caught up to him. "Ssso you're at the place where your kind belongsss."
My kind? Virgo thought.
The snake woman had a spear. She attempted to throw it at Virgo, who dodged at the very last minute. The spear hit something in front of the archway, then flew back to the snake lady and whacked her in the face.
Virgo moved closer to the archway. He stuck his arm out. There was no invisible force in front of it. So why had the spear rebounded?
The snake lady got up. "Curssse Camp Half Blood'sss magical barrier!"
Virgo had no idea what she was talking about. His first instinct was to get inside the camp beyond the archway so the snake lady wouldn't reach him. But what if this magical barrier thing doesn't allow weapons in and not weird hybrid monsters? He thought.
"You'll meet your end sssoon, Victor Maidenssson." The snake woman said. "I'll be the one to finally kill you!"
Virgo's second instinct was so throw his sword at the snake woman, and so he did. The sword's blade pierced through her chest, and she fell to the ground.
"Well good job Virgo." Virgo told himself. "The police will be convinced that you've killed another man."
As Virgo took his sword back, a brown haired boy wearing a black hoodie walked up behind him.
"Did you kill that?" The boy asked, startling Virgo.
"W-who are you?" Virgo asked.
The brown haired boy studied the dead snake lady on the ground. "Many demigods don't kill dracaenae and make it out alive. I'd consider myself lucky if I were you."
