Nick’s p.o.v

Watching Miley’s plane take off was hard, harder than I thought it would be. The ache in my stomach grew to my heart making it hurt to even breathe.

I looked down and saw that my phone was ringing, it was Joe.

“Hey Joe,” I said answering it.

“Hey, where are you?” He asked.

“I’m at the airport. I just said goodbye to Miley.” I said with a soft sigh.

“Where is she going?” He asked.

“To Nashville with her family. We need the space to figure out what we want. When she gets back we are going to talk things over.” I explained. It hurt to think about the wait.

“I guess that is good.” He agreed. “You both need to figure what you want.” He spoke honestly.

“Listen, mom and dad are in New York, and I let it slip that you were here and now they want to see you.” He said uneasily. Anger began to grow in my body.

“How did they find out?” I asked feeling the anger stronger flash through me.

“Well, they knew Miley was here and that I went to the show. They wanted me to go out to dinner with them and I showed up late. You know how they get.” He said with a sigh. He didn’t seem happy about this either.

“Anyway, I will come pick you up. I am only a few minutes away.” He suggested.

“Okay,” I said hanging up the phone without another word. I was upset and I didn’t want to have to deal with my parents, not now.

They would get on my case about anything and everything I do. When it came to Miley, they either loved her or hated her. They were fine with her when we were just friends, and when we dated it wasn’t a big deal, we young. When we broke up they just ignored it. When I started to date Olivia, they loved her more than Miley. I found that weird considering they only saw Olivia 3 times during the time we dated. They were always so quick to judge. When they found out Olivia and I had broken up they blamed Miley, because I had started to hang out with her again. Even when I had told them that she had cheated on me they didn’t seem to care.

They always got on me about the people I was hanging out with. It hurt how bad they treated Miley, she meant so much to me and it hurt to hear them talk about her like that. She was the only person who made me feel good about myself. She calmed my nerves and encouraged me.

I had to respect my parents, but I didn’t have to agree with their ideas. I was tired of them constantly getting on my case. I wanted a break from them and the annoying judgmental people in my life. During the past month, I have ignored my parents at all costs. The only people I talked to was Joe and Kevin…that was it.

I walked toward the gate as Joe pulled up. I quickly got into his car and he began to drive off.

“I’m sorry man, I know you didn’t want to talk to them.” Joe spoke up after a few moments of silence.

“No, it’s fine. Thanks for having my back.” I said glancing at him.

“It’s no problem man! You are my bro, I got your back no matter what.” He smiled as he vastly drove down the road.

“Where are we meeting them?” I asked carrying on the conversation.

“We are going to their hotel.” He spoke softly.

“Who all is there?” I asked wondering why he was acting so strange.

“Kevin and Dani” He spoke softly.
