Chapter 13

The scene opens up at the white house. Jerome starts to talk "This is great news, Mr. President. And It couldn't have come at a better time! Now, you're sure to be reelected!" The President sighs "I don't know about that." "Huh?" "I'm not the real hero of the story, look closer." Jerome looks at the newspaper closer "Huh? Sonic! *He shouts frustratedly* If we don't act fast, sir, they'll elect Sonic President!" The President gasps then facepalms "Huh, I'll have to find myself a real job." Jerome gets angry and walks up the President and slams his hands on the desk "We've got to do something right away!" "Now, now. Let's not overreact about this, just stay calm." Jerome walks back and forth thinking. Then he groans "Think, think, there must be something we can do. *Then he stops* Ah, that's it, I know." "Hmm?"

"It's a brilliant idea! We'll host a blacktie charity ball in celebration of our recent victory!" The President frowns "Yes, but what does a victory celebration do to solve our Sonic problem?" "We're going to make Sonic the guest of honor! We'll invite the media, get in a couple of photo ops, that kind of thing! It'll be in all the papers. All over the cable news talk shows. The President and Sonic. The dynamic duo battling together against the forces of oppression. Once the voters see that you and Sonic are buddies your approval rating will go through the roof! There's no way you can lose. Your re-election will be a sure thing. I'll have the staff get started. We'll make sure all the television reporters get personal invitations to the free buffet tent." Then Jerome walked out of the room and closed the door. When it shut the President sighed.

(Sonic X theme song played)

The scene opens up to the Thorndyke Residents with Sonic running out of the house with Chris calling him. "Hey, Sonic, a letter came for you!" When he didn't even consider to stop, Chris looked at the letter and gasped "Ah, it's from the President!" Chuck sits down holding the letter. He starts to read it. "You are cordially invited to a blacktie charity ball. Hmm, sounds interesting." Chris smiles "It's addressed to Sonic, but it says right there he can bring as many friends as he wants!" "Well, then in that case, I say we dust off our best party duds and make it a day." Everyone screams happily "Yeah!" Amy smiles dreamily "I bet they'll serve lots of yummy food there. *She thinks about the food* I'm getting hungry just thinking about it." She sighs drooling a bit while Tails sly smiles "Me too!" The door opens with Sonic behind it. "I'm back." Chris looks at him and smiles "Hey, Sonic! *He runs towards him* Guess what? You won't believe it, the president's giving a party and you're invited." He looks at him, "I am?" Chris nods "Mhm, and all of us get to go too. It'll be fun." "When is this party?" "On Thursday." Sonic closes his eyes and turns his head "Can't make it." Chris gasps "Ah, Why can't you?" He turns his head back towards him "Life and I promised Helen we'd hang out." "Helen? You mean the girl in my class?" Chris questioned. "Yeah, that's the one, She's a friend of Life and I." "I didn't know that." "We met her over by the lake."

*Flashback playing melancholy music*

Sonic and Life are running around looking at the scenery when Life turns her head and gasps. "Sonic wait!" They both stop running. Sonic turns to Life confused "What's wrong Life?" She points to Helen who is trying to move out of the sand. "She looks like she could use some help." He looks at her "Oh!" Then he zooms towards her and pushes her out of the sand. "Hi there!" She turns her head to him "Thank you. Oh, you're Sonic, aren't you?" He looks at her surprised "You've heard of me?" "Of course. "That's pretty cool." *Then she turns her head towards Life* And you must be Princess Life" Life smiles and walks towards them "Yeah, nice to meet you. What's your name?" "Helen." Sonic winks "Pleasure to meet ya."

Helen smiles then turns her head towards the water. "I come out here a lot. I love to look at that island." "That one over there?" Sonic asked. Helen nodded "Mhm. My father says it's filled with the most beautiful flowers. All different kinds." Life smiles "Wow! That sounds awesome! Cookies&Cream would love it there." She smiles hearing that but then frowns "My father always promised he'll take me there. But he... he's always busy." Sonic turns his head to her while Life does the same. "Don't worry, I'm sure he'll take you there one of these days." "Yeah, don't lose hope." She looks down "I don't know. My dad doesn't seem to ever have enough time for me. I'd go myself but..." Life and Sonic look at her then to each other. They both nod. Sonic asks "You really want to see that island, Helen?" She turns to him "Of course I do." "Then we're going to take you. Right Life?" Life smiles "Right!" Helen gasps then smiles "Thank you both!"
