SADIE CULLEN HAD been many things. Punctual, gratifying, open minded—but more over; she was a liar. To both her brother and herself. She had lied to them both in terms of establishing their limits with Bella Swan. It was only yesterday that the young vampire had made an agreement with Edward that the two would stay away from the new girl. And not even a few weeks later, Sadie had found herself taking Bella up on her invitation to spend the night at her house for what she called a sleepover—but Sadie knew was truly an attempt to find the answers she did not yet know would put her in all sorts of trouble.

She hated herself for this. Hated herself for knowing that she was no better than her brother. That her desperation was the equivalence to his ignorance. She knew sooner or later it would not be her family's secret Bella would have to fear, but Sadie herself. She wanted Bella to feel as though their interactions so far had all been genuine. Because although Sadie had wanted to pierce her teeth deep into the flesh between Bella's head and shoulder, she wanted their friendship to be true as well. It had been a long time since Sadie had felt something real. So perhaps this had been the first step.

So this brought her to where she had been now. Standing before the beautiful blue painted wooden house with a backpack slung over her shoulder with a pillow and a large purple blanket—both of which she had simply brought along for the illusion of her actually going to sleep tonight—tucked under her other arm.

She took a deep breath and brought her hand up towards the door allowing her knuckles to bang up against the wood three times before she waited patiently, shifting her weight from side to side as she attempted to ease her nerves.

The door swung open shortly after and Sadie had found herself meeting a pair of familiar dark brown eyes. "Chief Swan," she offered her best smile. "nice to see you again."

The man pursed his lips in content and the girl. "Red," he greeted. He snorted to himself as he looked over her hair. "you need a touch up kid." he pointed towards her hair. "They're getting kinda faint, almost didn't recognize you." he joked.
