EVENTUALLY, THE DAY she had been dreading most had come. The week seemed to fly by and Monday came around faster than Edward during their baseball games.

She had given her family a warning of course, making sure Jasper was the first to hear. He was the newest vegetarian. Like Sadie.

Or at least like she was supposed to be.

She tried to look on the bright side. She thought maybe Bella starting at her school may not end up to be all that bad after all. Maybe the smell of all the other students' blood would mask hers.

But then she thought, blood on top of blood? That could not possibly end well.

So she made it her plan to avoid Bella as much as she could. But part of her knew she would feel guilty. She was already feeling guilty for just thinking about it. The poor girl was new to the state, the town, the school.

She knew Bella needed at least one person at school that she could be affiliated with. One that she could sit with at lunch so she would not be made out to be a total loner. One that she could rant with about her classes and so on and so forth.

Who was she to leave her all alone? Especially after Chief Swan introduced the two with the most hopeful look on his face. No doubt he wanted Sadie and Bella to be friends—or at least on good terms with each other. That way Bella could have something to look forward to during her time in Forks.

She never left with her siblings. She always made her way to school on her own and simply told them that she would see them there. She never went home with them either.

She needed to walk. To be alone.

But the quiet always seemed tempting at the time, only to come around and become an enormous pain in her ass soon after.

Each and everyday it became more and more surreal to her that this was her life. That she was now undead. Or "immortal" as her family called it. That she was no longer in her home town. That she was now living with people who died and were brought back and turned into mythological creatures, just like her.
