WHAT HAPPENED?
Why does my head hurt?
I feel... different.
She sat up slowly, eyes scanning the room as she had realized the space around her had all been unfamiliar. This had not been her house. And judging by the scenery outside as she looked through the window right across the bed she had been sprawled across, this had not been her town either.
Everything was different. The bed, the sheets, the room, the town.
She was different.
The feeling could not be described. The static-like feeling flowing through her veins along with the buzzing in her head. She felt drunk. As though her soul was laced with something. Something that had made her more aware of what had been around her.
Everything looked clearer, everything sounded beyond comprehensible. She was picking up on every small detail revolving around her like she had never done before. It was strange how she felt she had never truly been in touch with the world until now.
But why?
What had changed?
Her brows furrowed as she caught sight of a faint red glow emerging from underneath her sleeve. Slowly, her shaking fingers itched towards the sleeve of her wool sweater and tugged it downwards. Her mouth fell agape, a raspy gasp emerging fro her lips as she caught sight of the scars spread over the surface of her skin. Where her skin was once smooth had now been covered with rough patches of red and discoloration marks. The mutilation scars from the fire she recalled being submerged in not too log ago.
How long have I been out?, she wondered.
Her attention was quickly captured by the sound of footsteps. They had not been close by the door, much rather they had probably been down the hall, but they were still clear as day. Sadie's eyes narrowed as she looked over at the door.
