Chapter 29: Recording Vocals

I'm sitting at my computer editing the final products of the songs we were doing to record today. I feel someone wrap their arms around me. I jump and I hear Taemin laugh.

"Taemin!" I shout.

"I'm sorry, you looked so serious." He says.

"I'm finalising the audio that you'll all be singing too."

"And you too."

"Yes, and myself."

"Come downstairs and have breakfast." Taemin says taking my headphones and dragging me out of the chair.

"Fine, fine!" I say standing up. He puts his arm around my waist.

We walk down the stairs and see everyone sitting at the dinner table.

"Finally." Key grumbles.

"I was polishing up the songs that we were going to record today." I say getting some cereal.

"I didn't want to tell you (Y/n), but..." I look at him with concern, "The meeting as been pushed back some days you have 4 days."

I stand still. I take out my phone and I run upstairs.

I open the bedroom door and look at my diary, I don't have time. I stand there for a second before I hear four sets of footsteps come up the stairs. I sigh and grab a pen.
I start scribbling in the dairy. Today, drafting, maybe I can finish two songs. I give a free day and then I start with the other two songs, then I can record vocals and polish all the songs on the 4th day. I stand still for a moment.

I look at the door and see the boys peaking into the room.

"Everything okay?" Taemin asks.

"Yes, I just had to fix up my dairy and figure things out. On the second last day before the day interview, we will record vocals, then the last day I will polish up the songs and we did anything needs changing." I spit out really picky.

I sigh and put down my diary. I walk over to the door and we all head back to the dinning room. How is this possible? Why did they suddenly push the meeting back. I don't understand.

"Are you ready to record our singing?" Onew asks.

I nod, "Who wants to go first, I hope this doesn't take more than a day."

"I'll go first." Key says, "I want to get it over and done with."

"Come on Key."

I look at Taemin and smile. "Don't work too hard."

"I won't, it's not like I have 5 days." I say laughing, "But seriously, after these days I think I'll sleep for 10 years."

The boys start laughing as Ley and I walk into my bedroom.

I have everything set up already, I did all of my vocals last night.

"You're recording stuff is pretty cool (Y/n)." Key says, "You have so many headphone jacks and everything."

"It was pretty expensive too." I sigh.

"How will be do harmonies?"

"We will do them after, all of the boys can stay in this room actually. They just have to be quiet."

"YOU CAN ALL COME HERE!" Key shouts.

I here a thundering of footsteps run up the stairs and open my door. They sit on the bed and we start to record.
I record all of Key's parts for every song. Now it is Onew's turn.

"I think Minho should go last." Taemin says, "The rapping."

"I agree." I say as Onew gets ready.

"I'm ready."

I play though the song and he sings when necessary, we stop and record and then continue. We do this for the 8 songs I have prepared.

All of the boys stay in Tae and I's bedroom. I start to write the other songs.

"She concentrates really hard huh?" Onew points out.

"She does, she takes it very seriously." Taemin replies.

I smile and continue working. I get a good beat and can't help but to sighs it took a while to get the starting beat.

"Have you got it?" I hear Taemin ask.

"Yes, I do. Just wait." I unplug my headphones and let them listen to it.

They all give gasps of excitement, but there's something missing.

"Something wrong (Y/n)?" Minho asks, shuttering a bit.

"Something is missing." I say I listen to it once again. "I don't know what..."

They all start to think when I burst out of my chair. I take my microphone and quickly head down stairs. We have a bubblegum dispenser in the kitchen. I run towards it and put a coin in. I hold the microphone up to it and I use it.

I look at the stairs and see the boys confused out of their minds. "I got it."

We start making our way upstairs. "You scared me (Y/n)." Key says laughing.

"She always does this, when she has inspiration she has to go, go, go!" Taemin explains rubbing my back.

"I do that?" I ask chuckling.

"You don't notice?"

"No, not really..."

We enter the bedroom and I quickly put the sound in the song. I scream with joy when I finally hear it. It's sounds complete.

"Is it good?!" Onew asks.

I unplug my headphones again and play it for them.

"(Y/n)! That's perfect! You're a genius!" Taemin screaming hugging me.

"It sounds so good with it!" Key says.
