Alex's P. O. V.
"Be on your guard. We're walking straight into a trap. It could be anywhere," father said. I had extra dual daggers kept on my belt.
I pulled them out and gave it to my father. We all made out way to the Great Hall as quickly as possible. All of them, besides my father and I, were breathless. The other houses were talking amongst each other and some were panicking.
McGonagall rushed up to us, "Thank Merlin you guys arrived here safe!"
"Professor, we're you attacked?" I asked.
"I wasn't but I did see hundreds of foul looking creatures running towards the Gryffindor Towers. I thought the students were still fast asleep, I was about to rush there when Prince Legolas told me you were on your way there," McGonagall said.
"Silence!" McGonagall's voice boomed. The hall went silent, "It's as I fear... the moment has come. War is upon Hogwarts. When the sun sets, Hogwarts will fight for survival. We have hours to go before war starts. We have hours to train. Hogwarts will not fall!"
We all cheered.
"A couple of elves will guide you all to the respective laundry rooms. You will change and come back down in a flash. Have breakfast and then training starts."
The students walked out of the hall leaving the teachers, Gandalf, my brothers, my father, Legolas, Newt and I standing there in the massive hall.
"We're going to cast a protection spell around Hogwarts," McGonagall informed, she walked out with the teachers.
"I'm going to help," I said.
Legolas put his hand on my shoulder, "You need to rest. You're exhausted."
"I'm fine. This'll only take a while. I promise," I continued to walk out.
"Legolas, go with her. Just in case she passes out," Gandalf said.
In seconds, I felt Legolas' warm fingers interlock with mine. We headed out to the main entrance of Hogwarts. We stationed ourselves in the middle of the courtyard.
I raised my wand and started chanting, "Protego Maxima... Fianto Duri... Repello Inimicum..."
I chanted it over and over again sending out streaks of light blue with a mix of yellow and a slight hint of pink light out of my wand. It didn't take long to create an invisible barrier around Hogwarts.
"Wow... that's incredible!" Legolas said in awe. He's never seen magic like this before, obviously. Middle-Earth's magic and Earth's magic is different. What you find here, you can't find there.
"Magic is beautiful, isn't it?" I asked.
"Yes, like the elleth I'm in love with."
"But it can be dangerous too..."
"Like you. A rebellious, dangerous warrior yet a sweet, petite, harmless little girl."
"Like a nightmare dressed in a daydream? And I'm not little!"
"Well, not a nightmare, you're not scary at all. And yes, you are little, to me, and that makes you cute."
I giggled, "I guess I'm smaller than you but I'm still dangerous. Now I'm going to change. I reek of sweat and blood."
"Let me accompany you to the laundry room."
"Why of course, my prince..." I said.
We walked to the Gryffindor Laundry Room, I grabbed my clothes and we walked to our room. I took a hot shower and changed into my clothes. It was my uniform as my comfiest tunic and leggings were dirty and stinky.
We went down for breakfast. I had cereal and milk, it was simple but it gave me enough energy for the day. On the way out I grabbed an apple.
Legolas went to the archery fields. I also went there because, I wanted to work with my bow and sword. Some of the elves and I had a small personal space which nobody could enter without permission. Why? Because if someone were to walk in the middle of my training, a knife or arrow might end up in straight in the gut or the heart or the head.
But we could only use that space for one and a half hours, that's the maximum time allowed, because others also needed the space. After that, I went to test out my armor, just to make sure it was not too big or too small. Had lunch. Then, I prepped Sterling up (putting on the saddle, harness, stirrup, and all those things.) By the way, some things are huge because of magic.
It was about 3 in the afternoon, I passed out in Legolas' arms when we were sharpening our knives. I was so tired. I woke up two hours later and trained again. Had dinner and suited up for battle.
The moment the clock stroke 12 midnight, all the elves were at their posts. Students and teachers were on guard with their wands. I was on Sterling, up high in the sky. I heard a battle cry and lot's of stomping. I looked down.
By the looks of it, there were more than a hundred thousand orcs beneath me. I looked at Legolas with hope in my eyes.
'Good luck,' I mouthed. The bowed his head. I looked in his eyes, I knew what he was thinking. And... I will come back to him, not die again.
It was silent.
An orc general let out a loud, nasty roar.
War has begun.
