Alex's P. O. V.
"Deal."
A smirk plastered on Alaya's face. I drop the arrows and bow, and drew my sword out. She got into position. A throwing knife flew past me cutting my cheek. It didn't hurt. She pulled her sword out, mind you he sword has a crack. A crack line is visible. All I had to do is destroy the sword, destroy both swords, if it's possible.
My sword collided with hers. We were fighting near a cliff. My back was facing the freaking cliff, and Alaya is gaining. She's moving forward slowly, while I defend myself, pushing me backwards. Soon enough, I was standing on the edge of the cliff. All I knew about this cliff is that it has poisonous orchids at the bottom of the pit, and the orchids kill you by the smell. Rumor has is that Shrieking Scorpions infested the pit. A man found this scorpion on top of the cliff, when the scorpion let out a screech, his ears were ringing in pain. Then he fell and die. Maybe it's true, maybe it's not, after all it's just a rumor.
Using my leg, I kicked her, pushing her away from me, giving me enough space to move away from the cliff. I felt a sharp pain on my leg, I looked down and saw a throwing knife jabbed in my leg. The pain was bearable. Alaya stood up and charged towards me, once again our swords collided.
Clink... clank... clink... clank...
Well, I'm losing the fight. My right leg is injured, my ribs felt like it was on fire, and my dominant hand is dislocated. So yeah... I can now only depend on one hand. How the hell am I going to win.
My back hit the ground, my energy was drained and now I'm weak. I coughed out blood. My head hurt. My sword was so lose but yet so far away from me. I tried to grab it.
"Mine, finally, " Alaya said in victory, I've failed again.
"And now, you die."
I was too weak to get up and run. Alaya walked closer towards my broken body, I saw her lift my sword up. That's it. I'm going to face death once again. I closed my eyes and accepted the fate.
"You will not hurt her!" A familiar voice said from a distance followed by a scream. I opened my eyes and saw my sword laying in front of me, calling me. There was an arrow sticking out of Alaya's stomach.
Come on get up...
I pushed myself up, it hurt a lot but it was worth it. I felt myself falling again but this time I was caught by a pair of strong arms. I looked up, my eyes locked with my rescuer. Legolas.
"Legolas?"
"Yes. I'm here. You don't have to fight anymore, we've won."
My lips curved into a weak smile, "Good but I have to finish what I started." Hearing the good news just gave me hope. I picked my sword and stood up straight with one good hand and one good leg.
I limped over to Alaya and stopped where her sword was. I lift my sword up. Alaya looked terrified, she was... scared. With swift move, her sword shattered.
"Why didn't you kill me?" she asked sounding a little bit more relieved.
"Because I'm not a cold hearted monster."
I closed my eyes and concentrated hard. I was sending back the sword to where it came from. It's done. Peace has been restored in another world, but evil will not rest. I opened my eyes, the sword was gone.
"Thank you..." a faint voice said.
"It's my pleasure..." I whispered.
"Why did you do that?" Alaya asked.
"I believe it's going to corrupt me like it did to you. I know you're a complete different person. My mother once told me that Queen Alaya of Mirkwood was the most kind hearted, loving, caring queen Mirkwood has ever seen. What happened to her?"
"Nothing is stronger than a mother's love. It's true, I was Mirkwood's loved queen, after I had Legolas, I thought my life was completed. I had a wonderful husband and a beautiful heir to the throne. But no, I was summoned by my stepfather. He threatened to kill Legolas if I accept this evil sword as a gift. Like I said nothing is stronger than a mother's love..."
A tear slipped out of my eye. All this to protect Legolas? It was definitely something I did not expect. I put out my hand. Alaya grabbed it and I pulled her up. I followed my instincts.
"People make mistakes, Alaya or should I say, naneth. Even though, you'll be thrown in a cell, I'd make sure you have all the comfort and company you need," I sighed. I felt a pair of arms around my waist.
"Are you alright?" Legolas asked.
"Yeah..."
Legolas looked at his mother with pure anger in his eyes.
"I forgive you." I whispered.
"What?" Alaya's head snapped up.
"I forgive you." I said a little louder.
"I'm not asking for your forgiveness, my dear,"--tears pooled up in her eyes,--" What I did was unforgivable. I don't deserve your forgiveness!"-- she smiled with tears streaming down her face--,"I always wanted you to be his bride. Take care of him, Alex," --she looked at Legolas-- "I love you, Legolas."
She pulled out a dagger from a bronze belt around her waist. My eyes widen.
"DON'T!"
Too late...
I turned around and sobbed in Legolas' chest. His arms tightened around my frail body. She killed herself.
"Aa' menealle nauva calen ar' malta, naneth (May your ways be green and golden, mother.)" Legolas whispered.
