Chapter 16: Well that was unexpected

(whoops I thought I had published this chapter)

It took me forever to find Eliza, and thankfully she wasn't in Heaven or in Angel territory

She was in New York, which made things a little bit easier, but NYC was still huge

After I found her though, I hid behind a building, unsure how she would react to seeing me

Would she be happy?? Would she run away screaming and call the Angels on me??

Who knew, but I had to see her and give her the flower Pip had revived. She deserved to have it, and hopefully it would fix our relationship

I MEAN FRIENDSHIP

Damnit how deep in love was I with this Angel-

I sighed and summed up all of my courage before calling out to Eliza

"Eliza!!"

Thankfully she heard me and turned towards where she had heard my voice "Maria?!" She called as she flew over towards me

"In the alley, don't worry, it's ok" I assured her and after a second Eliza appeared in all her Angelic beauty

When I saw her I could feel my cheeks flush red and I completely forgot about what I was even gonna say

"I uh- Hi" I finally stuttered out and Eliza looked at me weirdly "Is everything alright?? Why are you here??" She asked and for a moment my heart stopped as I thought she didn't want to see me there

"O-oh uh I can go-" I started to say but Eliza cut me off quickly "No no no!! Please stay... I actually missed you.." she said and my heart stopped for another reason

"You... actually missed me..??" I asked and Eliza chuckled lightly "As crazy as it sounds.. yeah.. you were so nice to me after releasing me" she said and I swear her cheeks looked a bit rosy

Wait.... holy fuck did she have feelings for me??

No way- No there was no way she would ever have romantic feelings for me..

"W-well I uh.. I remember you saying that you uh- you wanted to find a new type of flower.." I said and quickly checked the flower, making sure to keep it hidden for now

Thankfully it was still alive, and as beautiful as when it was first created

Eliza's eyes lit up happily as she caught onto what I was saying "Did you really find one?!" She asked excitedly and I nodded

"It looks kinda... demonic- but it was the only thing I could find that I could keep in Hell until I could deliver it to you" I said, half lying because I didn't want to give away Pip's newfound power

I took the flower out of hiding and held it up for Eliza to see

She gasped and moved a little closer to the flower to look at it better "Can I hold it??" she asked and I nodded before carefully passing her the flower

"Careful, it's got thorns on the stem" I warned and Eliza nodded before carefully holding the deep red flower

"It's absolutely beautiful..." she said and I smiled, proud that she liked it "So you like it??" I asked and Eliza nodded happily "It's wonderful!! It's like the perfect mix of our two worlds, like a symbol of our time together" she said and my heart fluttered

"Y-yeah.. I was thinking the same thing" I said and smiled softly at Eliza

Eliza looked back up me and held my gaze, our eyes connecting and staring into each other for a moment, time seeming to stop as we did

We broke the gaze at the same time, both of us sensing the awkwardness with a hint of growing feelings for each other

"I should-" we both said at the same time and chuckled nervously when we realized

"We should both go.." I said and Eliza looked down at the flower I gave her "Does it have a name??" She asked and I shook my head

"No, but you can name it" I said and Eliza smiled softly "I'll call it.... a Rose" she said

"A rose?? I like the sounds of that" I said and Eliza giggled happily before looking at me, this time I could tell that her cheeks were definitely red

"Thank you so much Maria.." Eliza said and looked down before flying over to me and pressing a soft kiss to my cheek

My face immediately burned and I had to use all of my willpower to keep from squealing happily

Eliza pulled away and flew off quickly and I was tempted to follow her, but I knew I had to be patient

I touched my cheek where Eliza had kissed me and smiled brightly
