Chapter 18: Well it was nice knowing you all

I kinda forget all common sense and flew as quickly as I could manage to where I assumed they were keeping Eliza, guilt crashing over me like a tsunami

It was my fault she'd been caught again, and there would be no way in heaven or hell that she'd ever forgive me this time

"Maria?! Where are ya going?!" I heard John call out which made me realized I was being followed, but I didn't respond and instead just kept flying until I reached the cages

There was a large hoard of demons, all hooting and harassing a single cage where I could barely glimpse Eliza cowering in the middle, as far away from the bars as possible

I pushed my way through the crowd until I could fully see Eliza before I called out for me

Eliza heard me and looked up with tears streaming down her face "Maria!!" she called out desperately before making her way to where I was at the other side of the bars. Demons tried to claw at her, but I fought them off as best I could before reaching through and taking Eliza's hand "I'm so sorry... I'm so incredibly sorry, I promise I'll get you out of here somehow" I said as Eliza squeezed my hand tightly

"Don't please... you'll only be hurting yourself!! I can't let you do this" Eliza cried but my mind was already set, and I didn't care how many demons around me heard it "I don't care, it's my fault you're even in here, and I can't bare to see you get hurt, I promise Eliza, I will get you out of there" I said with one last squeeze to Eliza's hand before I was ripped away from the bars by someone

"Maria what the hell as gotten into you" I heard John say as I realized he had been the one to tear me from the bars "You've been acting hella weird" he said as I tried to break free to go back to Eliza's cage "Let me go John!! This doesn't concern you!!" I snapped as John only tightened his grip

"I'm pretty fucking sure it does Maria, and what were you even saying to that Angel??" John asked as I wrenched myself from John's grasp, only to be grabbed by someone much stronger "Fess up Maria, we don't want anything to happen to you" I heard Herc say and I realized I was trapped, but I couldn't let Eliza suffer by herself

"I brought her here. She's with me. I don't care what you do to me, but let Eliza go, she's sone nothing wrong" I said and John and Herc stared at me as Laf caught up to them all

"You did what?! Ria, what the hell?!" John asked but I stayed strong "I love her!! There I said it!!" I yelled and suddenly everything seemed to come to a halt all around me before a booming voice made everyone cower

"What the Hell is going on?!" Washington shouted with Alex right by his side. John, Herc, and Laf all looked down at me before I broke free and flew to The General "I brought the Angel here" I said and Alex stared at me like I was insane, probably because I was

"You?? Brought an Angel??" Washington ask in disbelief but I stayed strong "I brought her here. Because I fell in love with her" I said loud enough for everyone to hear

"Maria stop it!! Please!!" Eliza cried only to get harassed by the hundreds of demons surrounding her

"Sir I have no clue-" Alex started to say before Washington shot him a bone chilling stare that shut him up immediately "Reynolds. With me. Now" Washington commanded before turning and flying away, leaving everyone in shocked silence

"What have you done-" Alex asked but I payed no mind to him and followed the General

We arrived in his private chambers and even though every molecule in my body screamed with fear, I didn't appear to be scared. I had to make sure Eliza wouldn't get hurt

"Why, in Heaven and Hell would you think to bring an Angel to Hell?!" Washington boomed and I allowed myself to flinch for a moment

"Like I said, I'm in love with her. I brought her here so we could have sex" I said plainly and Washington rubbed his temples "You had sex with an Angel in my Hell?!" Washington asked and I gave a quiet "yes sir"

Washington sighed and paced the room, muttering to himself before turning to me "How long??" Washington asked "How long what sir??" I asked and I swore I could see a vein on Washington's forehead almost burst "How long have you been with that Angel?!" He boomed and I allowed myself another flinch

Man it was hard to stay strong-

"A few weeks at most. But while I'm here I must admit, it was all me. A while back I captured her after I accidentally stumbled into Angel territory. I wasn't thinking right, and I imprisoned her here in Hell, I released her after I found myself catching feelings and seeing how ill she was"

"You... WHAT?!" Washington shouted, his voice shaking the room "I know what I said" I said "Do whatever you want to me but please, don't punish Eliza, she did nothing wrong" I said and Washington sat down heavily while massaging his temples again

"Maria... I like you, I think you're a great demon... but we have rules which you knew about, yet you STILL broke them" Washington said and got up "But since you've brought a high ranking Angel into this, I have no choice but to call a council of everyone for your trial" he finished and my blood ran cold

All the population of Heaven and Hell in one place... all executing justice one one person... me...

I knew my fate, and it wasn't a good one, but I had nothing else I could do

I promised Eliza I would do whatever it took to get her out, and it was clear this was it

I nodded my head before looking Washington in the eye, no matter how much I felt like cowering "I accept" I said and Washington sighed

"Tomorrow night, at the Full Moon. You will be tried for your crimes, and the disgrace you've brought to Hell"
