Standing in front of you was the tall trollhunter, a look of curiosity and maybe a tad of insecurity on his stony face.
You stood with your hands in the pockets of your (f/c) hoodie, staring up at him with a confused expression.

He had suddenly stopped talking mid-sentence after looking at you for some reason.
For a moment, you wondered if you had anything weird on your face and then you remembered that you did indeed have something weird on your face.
It had only been a day after Bular's assault and you were meeting with Kanjigar for the first time after he found you.
Without the make-up to cover them, the rather dark bruises were in plain sight.

Kanjigar seemed to be thrown off by the colorful patches of purple, blue, red and hints of green that spread over your face like some kind of galaxy.
You raised a brow.

"What's wrong?" you asked him, still looking up at him. Maybe trolls didn't bruise upon getting a fist of rock slammed into their face?

The broad troll scratched his cheek awkwardly, holding his amulet in the other hand.

"I was not aware that humans are capable of changing color," responded the male troll with a light shrug.

So he really didn't know how flesh worked.
Well, you couldn't blame him. He didn't exactly have flesh after all. Just this weirdly muscular rock hard and flexible ore... or something of the sort. You weren't exactly sure how that worked yet.

Getting back on topic, you shook your head and returned the shrug he gave you.
"Ya," you made and then grinned smugly, "you just gotta punch us hard enough."

You knew he'd grow uncomfortable with that info since he indirectly reminded you of the black prince, nearly cracking your skull and dragging you off to who knows where, but it was quite amusing to watch him recoil with a look of faint horror in his yellow eyes.

He shifted backward a little further, glancing to the side. "Oh," he mumbled, coughing into his fist, "..oh my. I'm sorry."

"Hey, no worries. At least we match now," came your response with another leisurely grin. It was just too easy to make this troll uncomfortable and honestly? His reactions were adorable.

Staring at you even more confused, Kanjigar watched as you went and took a seat on the porch you had been standing on.
He didn't seem to understand what you had implied so he simply kept looking at you as if the answer would suddenly appear on your forehead.

Noticing this, you pointed to your face and then to his.
"Blue skin," was all you said to clear his confusion.

The tall troll halted and kept staring at you for a good minute before he pinched the bridge of his nose and heaved a heavy sigh, whispering something like 'great Deya, give me strength' under his breath.

Then he waved his hand around in front of his face and shook his head as if to clear his thoughts.
"Either way," he began, "I've brought you some books today. You cannot keep them since they are only lent for tonight but I will bring them again tomorrow," adding the second part upon seeing your excited expression, he then went on, "I know you can't read Trollspeak so.. well, just look at the pictures."

"Wow. Someone's thought this through," replying sarcastically, you took one of the books -more like big tomes actually- and opened it. Despite him saying you couldn't read Trollspeak, which was true, you knew you could learn it quickly after looking over the pages.
In fact, you had already begun to learn some from the amulet he always carried around. Just a few words and grammar stuffs but it was enough to get into it.
You wouldn't tell that to him though, at least not yet. It was supposed to be a surprise.

Kanjigar took a few steps back and the atmosphere suddenly grew calm and sincere. Glancing up, you noticed that he was about to do that mythical incantation thing again.

"For the glory of Merlin, Daylight is mine to command!"

Upon finishing the last word, misty blue lights circled around the buff troll and lifted him a few inches off the ground as a wind picked up and messed up your (h/l) hair a bit. Out of thin air, armor formed and fitted itself around Kanjigar's frame. The air crackled with energy, making a light tingle go up your spine.

Then, with a heavy thud and a metallic clank, he landed on the ground again, fully clad in his silver and blue shining armor.

You still couldn't get over how awesome that was.

Kanjigar looked over to you, catching your gaze and immediately looking away again.

Weird guy.

With a light chuckle, you returned to your newly obtained book and began to try and decipher more of the foreign words in it, not noticing the other look that the trollhunter was throwing you before he began to stretch and warmup for his training routine.

And thus, a new ritual had been created that you'd both follow for as long as possible.
Frankly, it wasn't exactly long. But it was a comfortable time to look back to in the end.

Ah, yes.
The end of the beginning was soon to come.

And along with it, the start of the main act.
