Saving Conner

Deep Conversation

We had just finished watching "The Quiet Ones" even though he assured me it wasn't scary I still wanted to watch the funny movie last to keep my mind off of it.

Midway through the movie Conner put his arm around me pulling me into him. Everything was different with him he listened, he knew when something was wrong with me and he hasn't tried to get in my pants yet.

He rubbed my back as I rested my head on his chest.

"Brook." He said lifting my head up by my chin and looking into my eyes. "Thanks for giving me the chance to get to know you." We both leaned in. Closing my eyes I waited for our lips to touch.

"Brook?" Someone knocked on the door. "Oh sorry I didn't know someone was down here with you." Said Kenzie. "I was wondering if I could borrow a tampon?" She said whispering in my ear.

"Oh I didn't know you was here. They are in my bathroom on the top shelf."

"Yeah Claire couldn't make it so your brother invited Parker and me over. Thanks."

We waited til Kenzie walked up stairs before turning the movie back on.

Once the movie ended Conner suggested we'd play a game to get to know each other better.

"I'll ask you a question then you can ask me. How many boyfriends have you had?"

"Four, but they was always my age or maybe a year older. Your the oldest guy I have ever had interest in. What about you?" I felt my cheeks redden as I admitted I liked him.

"Well I never had a boyfriend before." He sent me a wink. "But girlfriends I've had maybe 8. Nothing serious except with one we lasted for maybe a year and a half. What's your full name."

"Brooklyn Elizabeth Thompson. Can we make this game easier. So I don't have to ask you the same questions you ask me. Can you just answer your question that you ask?"

"Seems fair enough. My full name is Conner Wayne Allen."

"You didn't ask a question."

"That's because it is still your turn." Conner smiled showing his dimples. Who knew that a smile could make me melt.

"Oh well is Blade your only sibling? And yes Ryan is mine although we still think my dad has other children somewhere. No one has confirmed that theory."

"No actually we have another brother that lives up north and a sister. She was Blade's twin."

"He never mentioned anything like that before. The way everyone seems to know Blade, I figured I would have heard about it. What happened?" I wish I wouldn't have asked by the look on Conners face I could tell my words triggered something inside of him.

"I was suppose to pick Mia up from a party but mom didn't know she snuck out to go. So when I asked to leave at the middle of the night, mom wouldn't let me. So I called Mia's boyfriend to pick her up. He sounded calm on the phone, I didn't know he was drunk. When 4 a clock rolled around and Mia wasn't home I panicked and told mom where Mia was. She was furious and tried calling Mia's phone but she didn't pick up. She left Blade and me at the house while they went out looking for her. She tried getting the cops to look but they said unless it was a 24 hour missing case then there was nothing they could do. My parents couldn't find her and called all her friends no one had seen Mia or Will anywhere. So they were forced to head home and continue the search when it was daylight. Before they could leave and search for Mia again. Mom got a phone call telling her a girl with brown hair that fit moms description was found in a ditch a long with a boy. The car had flipped breaking Mia's neck. They both dead that night. I blame myself. If I would have just snuck out without telling mom and picked her up she would still be here."

Silence filled the room before I finally spoke up. "Conner I'm so sorry, but you can't blame yourself for that. Mia wouldn't want you too."

"I know." He looked down at his hands and then back at me. "Thanks for listening, it means a lot."

"Conner" grabbing his hands and looking straight into his eyes. "Thank you for opening up to me."

He kissed me and I could feel him smiling as he did it. I couldn't think of any other place I'd rather be then right here.

"Bye baby." Conner said while giving me a kiss.

"Do you have to leave." These last could of days have gone by so fast and now I was going to have to go two weeks without seeing his handsome face.

"Sadly, but I'll text and call as much as I can. Just promise me one thing. Don't run off and find someone else. I really like you."

I nodded my head. He was absolutely crazy if he thought I'd find someone else better or even wanted to.
