New Earth- Chapter 49
Marcus' P.O.V
I knocked on the door of the room Chad was in. "Chad? You okay man?" I put my ear to the door to listen for anything. All I heard was sniffling and exhaling. All of a sudden, it stopped, and the creaking of the bed started, and I heard footsteps getting closer. Rattling of the doorknob started. 'Did he lock the door?' I thought. The door swung open at that moment.
"What." Chad's eyes were outlined with red, and his nose was pink. "Just wanted to see if your alright. Could I come in? We have to talk." I exhaled slowly and stepped forward a bit. He opened the door more and nodded.
I sat down on a recliner chair near the window. He sat on the bed. It was silent for a moment, until I cleared my throat.
"So, you know we had to do it, right?" Though it was dark in the room, I saw Chad's shadow colored head nod. "Look, I know, that this is hard, but...things like this are going to keep happening. We just have to be prepared. I'm not saying you can't be sad, I'm just saying-" Chad cut me off. "I know what your saying."
He got up and started pacing back and forth. I sat back and rubbed on my chin.
"I just...wish...this never happened. I don't...I..ugh!" Chad plopped back onto the bed and buried his face in his hands.
"How long before another one of us is bit, huh? How long before we all get seperated again? How long!" Chad pushed his hands through his hair a couple times.
"Look, your right, but if we stick together, and build our strengths, we could make that chance near impossible." I sat up, and I can tell our eyes met.
"Alright, but, promise me..promise me you will try not to die too. You and the others. I've lost so many people, and I don't want to lose anymore." Chad's voice was shaky. "I promise, bro." I got up and patted his back, then left the room.
I went to my room, and fell on the bed, before I knew it, I fell asleep.
