(Y/n) POV

-Kokoro!

It was lunch, and I was currently walking around the school halls for some alone time. I do this not only because of the serenity I get from appreciated me-time, but I also tend to bump into people. The hallways weren't busy by any means, but they weren't empty either. I didn't mind melting into the crowd every so often.

My wandering came to a halt when I passed a large window. The sun was gleaming through, and I wanted to bask in its light for a moment. This hallway was particularly empty, so I closed my eyes and saw the orange and red light through my eyelids. Then, I got uneasy, remembering the fact that your eyes don't actually turn off when you blink, which is why I could still see the light through my eyelids. Ew.

When I actually would eat my lunch, I still sat at Kokoro's table with all the other girls. I stayed because at least I had an established spot within the group. Honestly, I'm glad I did. Although the girls seemed petty and annoyingly popular, they were actually pretty funny and genuinely kind. My one complaint is the awkward air between Kokoro and I. We engaged in small talk here and there, but I still don't jell with her the way I do with the rest of our group.

I guess fate heard my mental recap and decided to give me some lemons. [opportunity lemons! Not fanfic lemons, you dirty child. At least not yet I-]

When I opened my eyes, I saw no other than Kokoro herself, making her way towards me. She smiled and waved her hand at me as she came closer. I smiled back and leaned against the window.

"Hey (L/n)-chan! Can we talk for a second?"

"Yeah, what's up?" Once she was next to me, we silently agreed to sit down. We plopped onto the floor and leaned against the window.

She breathed in sharply and began, "I wanted to apologize to you."

I looked over at her and raised a brow. "For what?"

"For acting like a middle schooler," she pouted and closed her eyes. "One of the first things I tell you is, 'Oh! Watch out for Oikawa-boke! He's mean and no good,' and then the following weekend, you catch us making out! I'm not a snake! I was just still hurting." The girl was genuinely upset at herself.

It's been a week and a half since that incident, and I would be lying if it didn't confuse me. I just ignored it. However, hearing this sudden apology lifted my spirits. I looked at her and gave her a reassuring smile, "Don't worry. I figured so. Besides, we all get like that sometimes. It's fine, really."

She opened her eyes and turned to me, "It's not! You're the freaking new kid! The last thing you needed was someone to snake you like me. Besides, Tooru and Hajime are like brothers to me, even if we've grown apart. Tooru and I broke up, and I started acting like his dumb fangirls-I always hated them! I started taking my anger out on the two boys. Then you showed up and, in a way, replaced my my 'role' in their lives. By the way, I'm not mad at that in any way! I was the one who had to be stupid and change, so it's not your fault. I was just having a hard time with the new distance and breakup. I'm rambling. Sorry."

Kokoro's face was very distraught, and tears begged to fall out of her eyes, but she held them in. I wrapped an arm over her shoulder for support, "It's okay, Kokoro. I'm serious. Also, don't apologize for changing. You are just growing and finding yourself. Sometimes friendships fall through, and that's okay. Either way, it's not like those boys avoid you. In fact, you of all people know that they would drop everything to make sure a friend is okay. Especially you."
