-chan -- familiar title attach after the name of a close friend especially female ones

-kun -- familiar title after the name of collegue or student, usually male

-sama -- (formal) Mr. Ms. Mrs. Miss

-san -- Mr. Ms. Mrs. Miss

-sensei -- teacher

Futon --- a traditional Japanese bedding of padded matress and quilts that can be folded and stored during the day, allowing the room to serve more purposes other than bedroom.

Haiden --- structural part of the shinto shrine; oratory or hall of worship, connected to the honden

Hina-matsuri --- Girl's Day or Doll's Day celebrated every March 3

Hiragana -- one basic component of japanese writing system along with katakana, kanji and in some cases romanji (latin-script alphabet)

Honden --- structural part of the shinto shrine; the main hall, where a kami statue is located which is usually closed to the general public

Mount Haku --- stratovolcano, located at Gifu, Fukui and Ishikawa Perfectures In Japan

Obaa-san -- translation: grandmother

Ojii-san -- translation: grandfather

Ojou-sama --- translation: My Lady

Shabu-shabu --- Japanese dish featuring thinly sliced meet, a variety of vegetables and sauces boiled "hot pot" style in skillet at the table. Japanese people often include noodles like udon or mochi served with bowl of steamy white rice.

Zabuton -- Japanese cushion for sitting, generally used when sitting on the floor.
