Dear journal,
I have just come home from a day shift. I started at 6:30 this morning. I love my job but since this outbreak, we have all been stretched to our limits. I am required to do extra hours but it is making me feel physically and mentally exhausted. Cups of tea do not help anymore, especially since I do not have the time to drink them. I have been applying cream to my hands regularly but the dryness persists. I do not know if I even have the energy to cook my dinner.
Three patients have died from this unknown virus. One of them was the very first patient we ever admitted 23 days ago, Wang Yong. His body has been sent to the hospital morgue and his bed has been heavily disinfected for the next patient. It almost feels like he didn't mean anything, like he was nothing more than a figure. Somehow I think that this will be a regular occurrence in the weeks to come, especially with how fast this deadly disease is spreading.
I have pretty much accepted my fate. Even if I do come down with this virus, I will try my best to document everything. Fear must not affect my work and my duty to the sick people of Wuhan.
Love,
Li
