Chapter 38
-----
The feeling of dread continued for the next few days. It wasn't something new for me, since it used to be a normal feeling. I used to be anxious for consecutive days before, with absolutely no reason. I just tried to ignore it for the most part, thankfully ay hindi naman ako pinabayaan ni Caspian na mag isip masyado tungkol doon. He made sure to distract me whenever he saw that I was slipping.
He was actually very good at it.
I spent my my mornings 'till afternoon with Demi. She seemed... distracted. Natutulala na lang siya minsan tapos iiyak. I tried talking to her about it but she remained stubbornly silent; she told me not to worry, that it was probably only her hormones messing up with her.
She also spent her whole day in my unit. Parang uuwi na lang siya sa unit nila para matulog sa gabi as she also napped on my bed. Even if her new girl friends were in their unit, sa unit ko pa rin siya tumatambay. Minsan ay sinusundo siya noong ampon ni Kal para yayain na sumama sa kanila but she refused them all the time.
It was when my thinking went overboard again. I think something was definitely wrong. Demi was very happy whenever she hang out with her new friends then but now, parang umiiwas siya na makasama sila.
It bothered me, a lot.
"Did something happened to Demi and Timothy?" I asked Caspian one afternoon. He went straight to my unit after his elective classes got cancelled. Graduating na silang dalawa ni Hope this year kaya medyo maluwag na ang schedule nila, mostly ay internship na lang.
"Like what?" He asked, grabbing another piece of fried chicken from the bucket.
Kumunot ang noo ko. I licked my oily lips, deep in thought.
"Hindi... I'm not sure." I apprehensively answered. Gulong gulo rin kasi ako. "Ewan. Parang namo-mroblema lang ako para sa wala?"
We both finished eating but the topic remained unfinished. Caspian didn't seem to be bothered about it naman, so siguro I was really just overthinking things. Si Caspian naman ang kasama nila Demi at Timothy sa unit nila; surely, if there was something wrong, he'd know.
Not that I was forgetting it, more like I don't want to make Caspian worry.
She wasn't crying too much, instead she focused more about her twins. She was religiously taking care of herself these past few days for the sake of her twins. From the things she does to the food she ate, all healthy for her babies.
I made it my duty to follow her around and give her company wherever she goes. Busy ang asawa niya sa company nila and her other friends were all in school. Ako lang ang available since I wasn't going to school or working anymore. Caspian was also doing his own thing, anyways. Mas okay na 'tong may ginagawa rin ako aside from rotting in my unit while I wait for my manliligaw to arrive every night.
Demi and I ended up at The Wholesome Table in Rockwell for lunch. She was very adamant on eating healthy food for her twins. Kahit siya ay di naman mahilig kumain ng veggies, she still does it nowadays just to make sure her babies were well fed inside of her.
