We traveled across the volcanic wasteland, trying to find my friends' faces. We hadn't found any yet. But it had only been one day, so we had lots of time.

We encountered two Fiends, brandishing their scythes in anger. I nervously glanced at the Sage, who gave me a confused look in response. Of course he didn't know. Fiends could completely wipe out your health in one hit. Usually with my group we had the Safe Spot, where we could cower when the Fiends got their turns. But I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of the greatest mage ever, so I stood my ground.

"Mega Fire!" I yelled, blasting one of the fiends to charcoal with one hit.

The Great Sage grinned at me, proud of my abilities. But it was the other Fiend's turn.

The Fiend readied his scythe, and sliced it across the air in front of himself.

I felt all my health drain, and I fell to the ground instantly. Well, RIP.

I woke up with a start, banging my head on something. Blurry shapes began to form, and I saw him, rubbing his head in pain.

"...sorry, sir," I managed, rubbing my head too.

"(Y/N), I thought you were dead!" he exclaimed, "Until your companions told me you were just knocked out." Of course. He had never seen anyone get knocked out before.

The Great Sage crushed me with a hug, and I hesitantly hugged him back. I didn't get much physical contact from anyone. But it felt nice.

When we broke apart, I questioned, "Did you say my companions?"

"Oh yeah," he blushed, "You were knocked out for a while. So I decided to go help your companions!" The Sage smiled like he had just given me a million coins.

Truth be told, I was enjoying our time alone, adventuring and learning more about each other. I could safely say he was my first friend.

But I didn't tell him that.

"Thanks!" I said, inflecting my voice so I sounded excited.

It worked apparently because he smiled again, and said, "You're welcome. They're downstairs eating, how 'bout you go down there! I'll be there in a minute."

So I unwillingly crept down the stairs.

Suddenly, my voice was pierced with the sound of three delighted screams.

"(Y/N)!"

"You're here!"

"I knew you would save us!"

"Actually, it was the Great Sage who saved you," I admitted, "I was knocked out the entire time." Leave it to the Sage to save the day.

"He's so dreamy..." one of my companions sighed, "Ugh, as far as first impressions go, I don't think I did too well. The color of the magma slime did not go well with my eyes."

"He's so awesome!" the second said, "His magical powers are so... awesome!"

"What do you think about him?" my third companion pried.

"He's... pretty cute," I blushed.

Suddenly, I felt all eyes turn to someone behind me. Oh, twerkey.

"Glad to know you feel that way about me, (Y/N)."

My companions laughed at my embarrassed face, and I wished for the first time the Dark Lord had taken my face, so the most powerful mage in Miitopia couldn't see the blush on my cheeks.

"Invisible," I whispered quickly.

Completely invisible to the naked eye, I crept past the crowd. As I left, I could hear the Sage telling me to come back, but I didn't listen. This was not how I wanted him to find out. I shouldn't have said anything!
