Bastard

I kept staring at the road waiting for it to happen again. For that black van to drive back by. It was scaring the hell out of me, but I didn't want to go back inside because of Damiar.

I stared and then it drove by again, very slowly. I finally stood up and contemplated going back in but before I could make up my mind, the front door opened.

"Yn." I turned around and looked at damiar standing there looking down at me. I looked back at the road and the van was gone. "Damiar." He clenched his jaw as he glanced behind me then back at me.

"I'm sorry for what I said to you." I was taken aback. What? "Really?" "Yeah. I didn't mean it." He said as he looked down. I looked behind him into the house and saw Kai sitting on the bar looking at us.

Kai made him apologize. He's not sorry.

"It's okay." I said before looking back at him with a blank stare on my face. Then Kai came out.

"Hey yn, damiar, are you guys alright?" "Yeah. It's all good." I said plainly. "Well let's go back inside, yeah?" I nodded and started to follow him inside. "Wait. No, come out here," Damiar said pulling us both by our arms.

"That van, has it passed a lot?" I slowly nodded. "Yeah, what's wrong. If it's a kidnapper or something we can just go inside and lock the door it's fi-" "No we need to go." He said not letting go of our arms.

As soon as the van passed again damiar basically dragged us down to his car. "Get in, hurry." Kai sat in the front and I got in the back. Damiar started the car and me and Kai were very confused.

"Damiar, what's going on?" I asked. No reply.

He seemed very stressed but about what? He looked in the side mirror, that van was following us.

Kai looked back at me, "Whats going on?" He mouthed to me. I shrugged, I had no idea.

We drove for over half an hour before any of us said anything. The van stopped following us ten minutes ago but Damiar still seemed worried about it, he was constantly checking the mirrors and looking out every window.

"Where are we going?" Kai asked him calmly.

"Uh.. my house I guess." He replied hesitantly. "It's a little further out but there's some candy back there if either of you want some."

I grabbed a few starbursts from the pocket on the back of the chair and gave Kai a Snickers. It was a little weird he just had a bunch of candy in his car but I mean I'm not judging.

"Who was that?" I asked him then began chewing on a starburst. "No one." He replied, he seemed a little calmer now.

"No one? You acted like it was some murderer."

He got a little put off by that, "You don't need to know." He told me as he glanced towards me through the rear view mirror.

"But you-" I yawned widely, suddenly I was really tired. "You.." I began but forgot what I was going to say in the first place.

I glanced at Kai, he was passed out. Damiar put something in the candy, I knew it was weird.

"Bastard." I muttered before I fell asleep.

I woke up very drowsily and stiff. I realised I was laying down as the drowsiness slowly wore off. I looked beside me and saw Kai still asleep.

I turned back over and then I heard footsteps and talking. I immediately closed my eyes and pretended to still be asleep.

"Someone was after us but everything's fine now. No they still don't know...okay, bye." I assumed from the red flash in my eyes that the light was turned on and then I heard the door close.

That was when I decided to "wake up". I turned a little bit before letting my eyes flutter open. I squinted against the light and covered my face with my arm. I was still tired so it actually did hurt my eyes.

"Yn, you awake?" I heard damiar say and I turned to see him crouched beside Kai. I groaned and tried to sit up but it hurt, and I immediately fell back down.

Damiar chuckled, "You're not gonna be able to stand for like, ten minutes."

"What the fuck, why?" I asked not remembering fully what happened earlier. "Because." I rolled my eyes and turned back around and closed them.

"No, Kai is about to wake up. Don't go back to sleep, idiot." "Don't.." I sighed. I wasn't able to think straight so I didn't really know what I was gonna say. Even though I could process everything around me, my thoughts were just wonky.

Just then Kai woke up with a deep breath. "Damiar? Yn?" "We're here." Damiar said looking down at Kai. I looked over to him and he looked literally horrible.

Very tired and miserable, but I probably looked the same.

I looked at Kai then back at Damiar and remembered what happened and shot up into a sitting position.

"Damiar, you have some explaining to do." He rolled his eyes. "I don't know what you're talking about." He said as he stood up. I laid back down and Kai just kept staring at me confused.

I waited a few minutes for Kai to fully wake up and remember. And he did, he sat up, grabbing my arm and making me sit up with him.

"You do have explaining to do, what's going on?" I nodded as Damiar just stood there looking at us. "Get up" he groaned and me and Kai stood up.

"Hitler knocked you out." He said sarcastically.

"I'm serious Damiar."

"Yeah you basically just kidnapped us." Kai added.

"I was protecting both of you." He explained as he walked out of the room and we followed him.

"From what?" Kai asked, annoyed at Damiar which was a first.

While they talked and argued over it I took a minute to try to process everything that just happened.

My dad is missing and Damiar clearly knows something about it, that black van was probably more than just some kidnapper and Damiar I guess was protecting us from whoever it was by bringing us here.

Where were we though? His house obviously but where was his house?

I slipped away while they were distracted and went downstairs. It just seemed like a normal house, it was huge though. I don't think he had siblings and he mentioned his mom being dead so did that mean it was just him and his dad living here?

I walked out the front door to see- well nothing. It was just desert as far as I could see. Admittedly if we had been anywhere close to a city I would have ran right then and there. I even considered it but I wouldn't make it anywhere without a jacket.

A car pulled up in front of me, I'd seen it coming but never thought anything of it. I quickly turned and headed back for the house.

"Wait! Please!"

I heard and glanced back towards the car.

"He's tricking you, Damiar is going to kill you! Come with me and I'll take you somewhere safe." They told me, it was some guy and he sounded very worried.

"What are you talking about?" I asked confused and took a few steps back towards the car.

"He brought you here after-" There was a loud bang then the guy disappeared in the car.

I turned around to see Damiar holding a gun, still focused on the car. A few seconds later he put it back down by his side.

"Those are the guys that kept driving by." He told me. I looked back and forth between him and the car, terrified from what just happened..did he kill them?
