hi guys it's tylor I put a song here even tho it has nothing to do with the chapter I just think it fits the vibe of this book kinda idk

It had been about a week and a half of me switching back and forth between comforting Kai and comforting Damiar. I don't even know what was wrong with Damiar, but it didn't stop me from being there for him. Even if he did sorta ruin my life, things aren't that bad, right?

I do still have a lot of questions but not all questions get answered I guess. I've been sparing Damiar the twenty questions because I know one: he won't answer, and two: he doesn't need it right now. And I'm nice.

I was currently sitting with Kai watching We Bare Bears as usual.

"Y/n, Kai! Dinner!" Damiar called.

I nudged Kai. "Why don't you go down there? I'm getting tired of carrying two plates at once."

He looked at me and just shook his head. "I can't."

"Yes you can. Come on." I took his hand and tried to pull him up but he wouldn't budge. "Come on!" I slid my hand down to his upper arm and pulled him up. We went down stairs, Kai whining the entire time.

"Suck it up and sit down."

He sat at the bar and I sat next to him.

"Hey, D." I greeted warmly as Damiar set our plates in front of us.

"Hi, Damiar." Kai said, sounding cold. I glared at him and started eating as Damiar sat next to me.

Suddenly there was a loud thump coming from the back of the cabin.

Damiar paused and looked around before getting up and going to the door. He peeked out of the little window. Kai and I just stared at him in confusion. Also kind of scared considering our circumstance.

"Go downstairs." Damiar said firmly as he turned to us.

"What? Downstairs?"

"Yes, follow me."

"Damiar it's probably nothing we can just go up to our rooms-" I tried to tell him but he cut me off.

"No I'm gonna go out and check and take care of it I just can't have you two getting hurt."

"I thought you said no one knew where we were." I said as Kai pulled me to stand up.

"Y/n, I can't always be 100% sure of that. Just come with me, ok?"

"Ok fine, whatever."

Damiar lead us to a little trap door type thing behind the staircase and helped us down and into a small hallway.

"That room over there. Lock the door." He said. I glared at him before opening the door slowly. Kai quickly walked past me into the room.

"Please" Damiar said to me with worried eyes. I nodded and went in, closed the door, and made sure to lock it behind me.

"What do you think it is?" Kai asked as he sat on a small bed. I sat beside him.

"Probably nothing. We'll be okay, Kai."

We sat in silence for a few minutes before he finally said something.

"I, um.." he swallowed nervously, which made me nervous too, "I really wanted to tell you th-"

The door swung open abruptly and made me jump, thinking we were in trouble. But it was just Damiar.

"We have to get out of here, they found us."
