Des's POV

I walked down the path and stopped outside the cafe. Staring at the library, a smile spread across my lips.

It dropped when I remembered about my stepfather. I turned around to head into the-

My hands hit something warm and hard.

I looked up.

"You know, Des, we have to stop meeting like this."

Percy mocked me. He was dashing as usual with a black pilot shirt and beige shirts. I rolled my eyes but secretly hid my redden cheeks.

He pushed the door open and bowed.

"Milady."

I did curtsey and waltzed in the cafe. We laughed. It made my heart fluttered. We sat at the corner of the cafe, right next to a window.

"You've changed, Des. You look better."

I looked away from the window and back into his blue eyes. I jokingly raised an eyebrow.

"Well, not that you were not good before but I mean, like, you're looking great-er but then you were back then, it's just-" he sighed,"sorry."

He looked down at his sweaty palms rubbing against the mug. I giggled madly at his nervousness. He smiled sheepishly at me.

"Thanks. Change?"

"Yeah, you seem...happier and... more lively."

He then smiled genuinely and I nodded. Suddenly, his smile turned into a small frown which he try to hide behind the book.

My heart dropped when his smile disappeared. The spark between us was still there so there was a bond.

"Percy?"

"Uhm?"

"The book's upside down."

"What?"

He quickly looked at the cover of the book and realized I was kidding. I laughed at him and he smile sheepishly again.

His lips were soon pressed in a straight line again which sadden me.

We continued discussing about our project about the gravitational pull of each planet. The conversations were simple and serious which upset me because Percy wasn't like he used to be.

"What?"

I didn't realized I was staring at him while biting my lip.

"You've changed too. Why so glum?"

"I'm not glum. I'm just not not not glum."

I rolled my eyes again but didn't see that smirk I was expecting.

"It's just that, Des, it's like... You're better now. Without me."

"Percy," I reached over to grab his hand as he stared intently on mine," that isn't true. I'm happier because my family is happier."

"I know I just...forget it."

He shook his head and I tightened my hands over his fingers.

"Percy, when I started dating you, or something like dating, I wasn't clear about feelings. The only affection I've felt was motherly. Then, you popped in my life and happened to be the only boy who understood me and I misunderstood that bond between us. I've been thinking a lot about this. I just need time to differ between fantasy and reality."

"Okay."

He used his other hand and placed it on mine. My stomach fluttered with butterflies and I felt myself drowning in those eyes again.

"Okay, kiddos. What beverage would you-? Oh my!"

I looked up at Patricia as she wiped her hands on her red apron. She shot me a mischievous smile and another to Percy.

Oh boy.

"Why, my dear, dear Destiny! You didn't tell me about this young gentleman in your life? You've scored yourself a charmer there, honey."

Percy looked like he was having a seizure to stop himself from laughing because he wouldn't let my hand go. As for me, I bowed my head in pure embarrassment.

I wanted to dig up a hole and die in it.My cheeks flushed as a girly smile crept up my face.

If embarrassing me was fate's main mission, fate nailed it. Numerous times.

"So what's this prince's name? Shove in dear, I ain't known for being small."

Patricia pushed Destiny towards the wall as she sat in the booth with both of them.

Percy opened his mouth after finally releasing my hands but Patricia cut in.

"Oh hold on your tongue honey! Let me guess. Is it Brandon? Peter? Carter? Eric?"

My cheeks were still flushed when I looked up at Patricia's round, fresh face.

"Oh dear, Destiny are you alright? You're face is feeling the mini Pompeii. The tomatoes are jealous of your redness."

Gosh, that helped a lot.

I buried my face in my hands. Percy looked like he was suffocating as he but his lip from having a laughing outburst. Patricia seemed to be stuck in the innocent confused stage.

"Okay. You kids can never be understood. What can I get ya?"

"Chocolate ice-cream"

We answered in unison.

The rain just stopped.( chapter 4 )

"For Destiny, it'll be with so much whipped cream and sprinkles, I'll be making her obese. How bout you..."

"Percy. The name's Percy. I'll have the same."

"Ok dears! Coming right up! I assume you don't want any drinks."

We shook out heads and she left.

Percy then burst out laughing and my whole face flushed.

"Oh yeah, Percy, how's Maddy?"

I needed desperately to change the subject and the guilt that stir I me for so long was still lingering.

His laughing stop and he looked at me grimly. His frown deepened as his eyebrows kitted together.

"She's-she's-"
