Hiccup POV: I was still cuddling into toothless, not wanting him to have any more nightmares. I always thought that he looked adorable when he slept, and still do, but something felt different. After that hug I gave him, he just... acted... different! *I'll ask him in the morning...* I had to mentally myself back before thinking too deeply about it. *but he also seemed panicked on the walk home...* he was going through a lot, but I was too focused on getting home that I didn't even stop to comfort him... I feel bad for dragging him home, he obviously knew how to handle himself, but it didn't feel safe for him out there... anyway, he's safe now, that's all that matters. I was free to move by now, his wings fell down to his sides and his paws were loosely wrapped around me when he fell asleep. But I'd have no real reason to get up, his body provided a unique feel of warmth, which was just the right temperature, not too warm, and not too cold. And it never fails to relax me when we cuddle, nevermind the actual cuddling itself... that's heavenly.....

I couldn't sleep for the life of me. Always thinking, not being able to take my mind off of toothless... there was something new, something questionable. I heard my bedroom door creek open. And seen the silhouette, it was valka, slowly approaching me and toothless as quietly as possible. "Mum? What are you doing?" I said in a gruff tired voice, she stared at me for a moment, not saying a word, but not long after, she put out a hand to assist me off toothless. I was confused, but took her hand and slowly dismounted the nightfury. I was pulled out of my room, and then outside the house where she would finally talk. "Hiccup, I'm sorry for dragging you out here, but we need to have a talk..." she spoke softly. "What is it?" I was calm, but curious as to what she wanted to say. "Well, cloudjumper told me something about your walk home... he was watching from the great hall doors, and something cought his attention, or, I guess, someone...." she didn't enjoy telling me this, but it felt necessary for her. "Damn it. He was right... I should have listened....." now frustrated, I was pacing back and forth. "They were watching from the trees up the northern hills, but vanished as soon as cloudjumper landed. Without a trace...." she felt slightly agitated by it, it was visibly showing on her face. "Well... what do we do? We can't trace them, we don't even know how many of them there is!" I raised my voice, and my arms were being thrown around. "You two get some rest, I'll stay out here with cloudjumper and be on lookout, just to make sure they don't return... but keep this between us please, cloudjumper told me about your dragons situation, and I don't think him knowing this info would help him in the slightest..." she was showing sympathy towards toothless. "Will do." I said, and walked into the house, making my way back upstairs to my bedroom.

*thank Thor he's still asleep.* it was quiet for a moment, before I heard a thing noise on the roof. *must be cloudjumper landing* it felt reassuring knowing that they were just meters above me and toothless. But I slowly climbed back on top of the sleeping dragon, which got a slight growl when I stood on one of his hind wings. But he settled down once he felt my weight on his chest again. But this time hi had no chance of escaping, as I was quickly covered by huge black wings and a four strong paws holding me close to him. But I wasn't agitated in the slightest, in fact, I was completely exhausted and wanted this to happen. "I love you buddy... goodnight..." *was that it? Was that the answer to the question in my head? Am I in love with a dragon?* I was unconscious soon after I asked myself that. But at this point, I wasn't surprised that I fell asleep so quickly.

Toothless POV: I woke to the sounds of birds chirping, a beam of sunlight hitting my face from the slightly opened window, and lumber being chopped. The usual day in berk, busy men and women making a racket. And hiccup was exactly where he promised he would be, snuggled into me, and I felt a light gust of air bounce off my chest with every breath he took, but he was still asleep. I stayed on the ground, not wanting to wake the sleeping Viking atop me, and calmly waited until he decided to finally wake up. Which took slightly longer than expected, but he woke up, and we got ready for the day ahead.
