Chapter 1: The Longest Day

"Lewis, you know we are doing this because we care." said Bethany looking back to her son. He didn't seem to notice or care, all he did was look out the window trying to avoid eye contact.

"Answer your mother Lewis." Lucas snapped from the driver's seat.

"This place is supposed to make you better, it may be far away but it should help you-"

"I get it, you don't want to deal with me, so you're sending me away to change who I am so you can feel happy, and you can't say you care if you never even asked me if this is what I think is best." Lewis snapped, "When have you ever cared about me?"

"Hey, watch your tone." Lucas shot back. "It's either this or prison. You're seventeen, so as you're not an adult yet, and as long as you live under our roof, you're gonna listen to us."

"Well it seems like I'm not living under your roof anymore now does it?" Lewis laughed sarcastically.

"What did I say about your tone?!"

"Whatever." Lewis said, laying down in the back seat. As soon as his head hit the seat, he began to drift off until he fell asleep.

"But sir he's just a troubled boy, he can't control himself sometimes." Lewis heard his mom say from the other room.

"I know ma'am, but that is why we have to take him in, he is a danger to society and to himself."

"Isn't there another alternative?"

"Well, there is a hospital for kids like him. It's called H.F.M.D. and it should help him, but if he doesn't get better, he is coming with us."

"Fine, Where is this place?" Said Lucas.

"Wake up, we're here." Lucas said to Lewis.

The hospital looked old, but new at the same time. The design and layout looked centuries old, but it was clean and kept well as if it was built yesterday. Lewis gets out of the car and walks to the door, but is stopped by his dad.

"If you mess this up, you're done. You're lucky that officer gave you one last chance, don't screw it up." Lucas warned.

"Whatever you say Lucas." Lewis said, pulling away, "I promise I won't be a mistake to you anymore, sir."
