The paintbrush flowed over the paper, leaving behind a beautiful blue tint, the colors flowed and mixed together. It was quiet today and I had the window cracked open, letting the summer breeze carry in the smell of the ocean. Painting has always been my escape from the world, it was just so calming. I didn't care if it turned out a masterpiece or looked like blobs of color.
Dipping my paintbrush in a darker blue I outlined the mark I had just made, I didn't exactly know what I was making at this point. But the blues mixed together in a vibrant and relaxing way.
A buzz from my phone broke the bliss, and I picked it up slightly annoyed. It was a message from Grace, I scanned the quick message. It was a sweet and simple text and ended with a blushing smiley emoji. I read it over and gave it a thought, Grace had invited me and Eliza to go down to the beach.
Leaning back in my chair I text Grace back, 'fs can u pick me up tho?' It took barely a second to get an answer.
'Be there in less than five minutes! Don't forget ur bikini again!' Grace replied followed by a kissy emoji. I glanced around at the mess I had made, paint stuck to my hands and I probably got some on my face. Paintbrushes and colors were thrown around the table along with previous projects.
"I'll clean up later," I murmured and tossed the paintbrush into the mess. Pulling back my hair I formed a quick messy bun and rushed into my room to grab a bathing suit. A quick look in the mirror confirmed my thoughts, there was a bright smudge of blue paint on my cheek.
I scowled and scrubbed with my hands, it came off but left a very red mark in its place. Shaking my head I headed out the door and saw a black sedan. Grace and Eliza wearing big sunglasses waved from the front seat windows at me with their car radio blasting. I smiled back and ran over to the car.
"Hey Dea, how are you feeling?" Eliza asked as I climbed into the back seat. She had clearly already noticed that I'm not in such a bright mood today. She then gave Eliza a quick look that I didn't quite understand. Eliza's brown hair was tied in a loose braid that swished with every movement. She looked back at me, her green eyes sparkling with excitement, but curiosity lied in her eyes also. I saw the way she had looked me over.
"Fine," I replied quickly. They exchanged a look, not a very subtle one. Taking a sigh I went more into depth, "Just trying to relax and forget for a bit."
Grace nodded her head agreeably "We can help with that!." Eliza laughed and nodded along both with Grace and the loud music. I couldn't help it, a small smile grew across my face.

As we arrived at the beach Eliza hopped out of the car and gave a small spin, Grace shook her head at her and laughed before grabbing the bright blue surfboard. As I got out Grace hooked arms with me and gave me the most over top smile she could muster."You're like the Cheshire cat," I laugh, swatting at her arm playfully. She just smiled harder. Eliza came skipping over and linked arms with me, she smiled also even though she was too busy looking at the shirtless boys on the beach to hear our conversation.
"Do you guys remember Issac's beach party," Eliza asked with a mischievous grin.
"I swear to- don't you dare bring that up now," I said covering my face to hide the blush.
Grace laughed and nudged me playfully.
"Yeah! It was a great party, the music, the stars, the romance." Grace winked at me and my cheeks flamed red thinking about it.
"It was one time!" I laughed.
"You hooked up with THE Issac Hail! H. A. I. L. and if I remember correctly you said it was the best-" I cut Grace off and covered her mouth. I was laughing though, we were all laughing. Arms linked, we head towards the beach. Together like nothing had changed.
