I laughed at a joke that Kodhe said as we sat down at the small two-person table, he had taken me to some fancy restaurant not too far from the zoo.

"Here I was thinking you were going to be taking me to the rainforest cafe," I joked as I glanced around at the elaborate and luxurious restaurant, compared to the tux's and beautiful gowns I felt highly underdressed.

"I didn't want to come off as a guy that over or under do's dates. So I evened it out." Kodhe patted himself on the shoulder and seemed pretty happy with his plan.

"Maybe you should have warned me, after all, we are pretty underdressed." motioned to the patrons around the restaurant that pranced around in formal wear. Kodhe rubbed that back of his neck and laughed nervously also realizing.

"Hopefully I don't smell like that monkey I held earlier," he jokingly held his arm up to his nose and gave a large sniff.

"Let me have a sniff," motioned for him to lean closer. His eyes glinted mischievously as he leaned over the table. I gave a deep sniff, taking a personal note that he smelled like coconut and cedar. I leaned back satisfied and gave him a not to bad hand movement. Two elderly patrons watched us with horror and disgust, Kodhe and I burst out laughing and ducked our heads

"Maybe the Rainforest Cafe would have been a better idea," he said with a wink. I covered my giggles as the waiter came over to our table. The waiter gave us a small once over. Not bothering to hide his distrust. "I am truly sorry, but our restaurant has a very strict dress policy. Our rules clearly state that no one is allowed to wear shorts or wear anything other than close-toed shoes." He motions towards our shorts and sandals.

"I'm guessing there are no exceptions for us," Kodhe says, biting his lip unsurely. The waiter just shakes his head and asks us to leave. Kodhe and I get up from the table and start to head out of the restaurant. Kodhe's shoulders sag slightly, and his cheeks are a little pink.

"Hey don't sweat it, I'm sure there is somewhere else we can go." I place my hand on his shoulder and smile up at him, Kodhe looks at me in surprise but he straightens slightly.

"I actually have an idea."

I was fairly surprised when we arrived at a Dairy Queen, instead of some sort of food place.

"Didn't your mom ever tell you not to eat dessert before dinner," I joked as we walked up to the order station. The ocean breeze blew through our hair.

"I suppose we will just have to make an exception just this once." Kodhe shrugged with a goofy grin.

The lady running the Dairy Queen gladly took our orders and rushed to go make the ice creams. Kodhe had ordered a cookie dough ice cream and I had ordered salted caramel.

"One cookie dough and salted caramel ice cream for the lovely couple," the lady said with an appreciative smile as Kodhe paid her. I couldn't help the flush that came across my cheeks when she called us a couple.

Kodhe lead me towards a picnic table that was surrounded by trees. Lightning bugs floated around, flashing around us like miniature stars here and there. I closed my eyes as a soft breeze blew, carrying the smell of salt from the ocean.

I opened my eyes to find Kodhe staring at me.

"What?" I laughed nervously.

"Sorry, it's just, your perfect." Kodhe winced, "sorry that was cheesy. But I'm being honest when I say that." I felt the blush go over my cheeks and Kodhes cheeks also flushed.

"Well if you're allowed to say something cheesy, I suppose I can too. I... I really like you Kodhe, and I think your very pretty-." I ducked my head,  "handsome. Handsome is what I meant."

"Your pretty handsome yourself," He laughs. "I want to ask you something," Kodhe didn't look up to meet my eyes and instead fiddled with his shirt. I felt my heart slamming around in my chest, I had a few guesses about what he could ask. I shouldn't be getting ahead of myself, but I honestly really liked Kodhe. In a way, I haven't thought about someone in years.

"Could I kiss you," he breathed quietly. It took me a second to take in what he actually said. "I know technically we have already kissed, but I want it to be more meaningful." He stuttered, his eyes raised up to meet mine unsurely.

"Since I know you don't smell like that monkey, I have to say yes," I replied quietly, almost breathlessly.

He leaned in slowly, and hesitantly cupped my face. I stared into his beautiful brown eyes, like molten chocolate. Then he leaned in and his lips touched mine.
